Doris, There is one P. R. Purifoy buried in Purifoy Cemetery: Purifoy, P. R. 24 March 1824 28 November 1895 Rusty Purifoy contacted me about Pharr last year. He was not surprised to find that he wasn't buried in the family cemetery. He had heard that Pharr was buried elsewhere ( he had not found the cemetery yet). We still have about half of Greenwood Cemetery yet to survey, so Pharr may indeed rest there and we just haven't gotten to him . Keep your fingers crossed. I wasn't aware of the circumstances of Pharr's death or I would have asked Rusty about the details. I will see if I can locate his e-mail address from his relatives if you would be interested in contacting him. >From what I can tell there is a Watt family that settled in Dallas and Ouachita counties that appears related to my ggg grandmother, Nancy Ann Watt who was wife of Henry Barlow of Dallas county, AR. The Watt family that appears related is of Thomas L Watt and Margaret J Williams. They had children I am aware of as follows: Ellen Keturah Watt Martha Olivia Watt Robert Henry Watt Frances " Fannie " Ann Watt Tommy Watt If anyone is related to this family, I'd love to compare notes. I believe there is a relation since the abandoned cemetery some of my family is in has a child of Robert Henry Watt and spouse in it. Best, Ray Mays San Angelo, TX

Do you have a listing for Pharr Rushing Purifoy in Greenwood Cemetery? Thanks, Doris
The CARTER surname is one on the largest in the 1870 ARK Census. Many came from Louisiana via Georgia. My CARTER group came from Lisbon, Claiborne Parish into Ouachita c. 1873-4. Some eventually settled (and still remain) in Chidester. Carrie, Mary, Kitty, Issabella, Andersen, James, Nelson, Benton, and Douglass are just a few of the names of the early family members. cBRAGGS

HARRIS - DAVIS - KING - PARKER connection in Calhoun County, AR Thanks, Liz..... Don't believe that my Kings got up into Kingsland and Fordyce area. They lived down below Artesian (south of Hampton) in Calhoun County..... arriving there about 1847 from Conecuh County, Alabama. But I am interested in your HARRIS ancestry. My grandmother, SALLIE HARRIS (born about 1869 in AR and died about 1898-1899 in Calhoun County) following the birth of my dad in Dec 1898 in Calhoun County. Sallie was first married to George Washington Parker (1886 in Calhoun County) and had at least two sons (Thomas and Robert Parker). Sallie later married Arthur Edward King (about 10 years her junior) in Feb 1898 in Calhoun County. The name of Sallie's HARRIS father is not known. Her mother (my gr grandmother) was Catherine Caroline (Kate) DAVIS (who first married a Harris and second married WILLIAM R. KING, an uncle of Arthur Edward King (above). Catherine Caroline was born about 1847 and died 1914 in Calhoun County. She and Wm R. King are buried in south Calhoun County (below Artesian) on the Old Moody Farmplace Cemetery. My brothers and I erected a protective steel post & cable fence around the three King gravestones found there. They are the only stones found, but we think that there were other graves there. Have any ideas or suggestions on the missing HARRIS, father of Sallie Harris, who married Catherine Caroline Davis? Uncle Jack as I call him is a descendant of the Heldebrands. I have heard him mention Bert Heldebrand's name many times. Bert's home is right down the road from where I live about a mile. I graduated with Bernard "Bernie" Heldebrand, Berts son, from Fairview High School in 1948. Bernard now lives in Benton, Arkansas. Bernard has a sister named Peggy and Gwen and two or three other brothers. Uncle Jack is also related to Bobby Heldebrand and his mother who operates Harvey's Store, where politics are spoken, just north of Camden on Highway 24. I mentioned this information which you have on the Heldebrands to Uncle Jack and he said he would like to have a copy of this material if at all possible for his family to have. So if it is not asking too much of you, I would be glad to pri! nt it out for him if you will forward parts which might be of interest to him, and take it up to him at Hot Springs, Ar where he and Lydia Belle now resides. Jack also had a brother named Carlton, who is deceased, and another brother named Sydney, who was killed in WW2, and about three or four sisters. Jacks father was a Carpenter during his lifetime and I knew him also. So if you can see fit to forward any of your information to me I will gladly see that they receive it. On December 10, 1990 Major Harold H. "Sam" Sweatman compiled an index of the heads of households for the 1880 Nevada county, Arkansas. This is the first census of Nevada county and includes information such as household number, surname, first name, race, township and page number. It only lists heads of household and does not give their ages. It will tell you what part of the county your ancestor lived in. Marjean, I prepared a family tree some years ago on the Rushing family for Mary Garland Wylie. She had Darling's civil war sword then. Mrs. Wylie has since passed away. Her understanding of family tradition was that Darling died during the war somewhere on the White River. I have since found that he died on April 1, 1862 at the hospital in Little Rock. I have not found a burial place for him.
