    1. [ARNEY] Trying to locate the Arney Plantation in Lincoln County North Carolina
    2. Stan Arney
    3. I'm trying to locate the "Arney Plantation" in Lincoln County, North Carolina Now, in researching Lincolnton (and Lincoln County, North Carolina, in general), I have learned a few things. For instance, by the time all was said and done, Lincoln County was reduced to 10 miles in width, and an average 30 miles in length. Lincolnton, was therefore 1-1/2 miles from the Catawba County line, to the North, and 4-1/2 miles from the Gaston County line, to the South.  Which left Lincolnton, about 4 miles in width (North to South). Also, part of Lincolnton, became known as "Boger City". In the area of Lincolnton-Boger City, there is an "Arney Street", which runs West to East, and is bound by "Hubbard Street" on the West, and "Lawing Street" on the East.   This makes me wonder if the Arney Plantation was near this area, because we know that Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr. owned several lots in Lincolnton.

    1. [ARNEY] Arneys from New Jersey
    2. Stan Arney
    3. I have been researching since the mid 1970's. In my search, trying to solve the mystery of Jacob Arney (1728-1784), who lived in the area of York(town), York County, Pennsylvania.   I have often come across the Arney family in New Jersey. Including a Joseph Arney, and a John Arney who married a Martha Paxton (in 1764). At the same time, I'm also looking into the Earney family of Colebrookdale Twp., in Berks County, PA, & Douglass Twp., in Philadelphia County, PA (both these townships & counties were literally, side-by-side). Well, The "Arneys", that lived in Burlington County, New Jersey, were "border mates" with the Arney's & Earney's, that lived in Berks & Philadelphia Counties, in Pennsylvania. Is this a coincidence? I'm still attempting to piece together, whether or not, all three of these families, should be brought together, or not. 1. My Jacob Arney, died in Lincoln County, North Carolina, leaving behind his Will, dated in 1782. 2. Frederick Earney (aka Frederick Ernigh), died in Berks County, Pennsylvania, in 1771, and his own son, Jacob, died in 1776, in Pennsylvania. 3. Joseph Arney, died in Burlington County, New Jersey, in 1772. Any ideas or thoughts on these subjects would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, for your time, consideration, and cooperation.

Yet, to date, I myself, haven't found any documentation proving this "theory". In Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr.'s Will, there is no mention of a Sebastian, even though, he mentions all his other children, including other children that "passed away" before Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr. himself. Pinkney Admiral Arney (1838-1900) In trying to learn more, about Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr.'s parents, I'm praying that the "key" lies with some descendants of Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr. We know that Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr.'s, father was Jacob Arney, who left his Will dated in 1782, in Lincoln County, North Carolina. We know the name of Jacob Arney's Wife, at the time of the writing of his Will, was Elizabeth. Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr., would have received most (if not all) of his father's (Jacob's) land, after his father passed. Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr., in turn, left his plantation and land to his son, Christian "Christy" Arney, Jr., but only if he wanted it (assuming that he kept the plantation, etc.). The plantation would have been passed down to his (Christy, Jr.'s) Widow, and young children, only a few years later. Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr., was the oldest son of Jacob Arney, and he is the best chance, to find out more information about his parents (Jacob & Elizabeth). It's believed that Jacob Arney's 1st Wife, was Anna Ursula Kron, and they had 4 "known" children: Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr. (1750-1834) Adam "Lawrence" Arney (1751-1802) Johann Heinrich "Henry" Arney (1755-1830) Anna Elisabeth Arney-Setser/Setzer (1861-1849) After the death of Anna Ursula Kron (Arney), it's believed that Jacob Arney, moved to the area of Tryon County, NC 2nd Wife, Elizabeth (surname/maiden name, unconfirmed). They had 3 additional children: Peter Arney (1772-1845) Catherine Arney-Edleman (1774-????) Tobias Arney (1775-????) If you are a descendant of Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr., or you know of someone who is, please let me know. [This Jacob Arney, was NOT the son of Frederick & Anna Maria Ernigh, who arrived in the USA, in 1732!!!] Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Mary "Polly Ann" KIRK12 November 1850 to 16 September 1886) Mary "Polly Sue" PATRICK18 March 1868 to 26 January 1942 Joshua was a half-blooded Cherokee; his mother Nancy Cope was Full Blooded.   Joshua's first wife Pollie Ann was also a half-blooded Cherokee.   Joshua's second wife Pollie Sue was given her name by Joshua.  She was a Full Blooded Cherokee; she had taken a white man's name of Mary Patrick.  Her parents never took a white man's name, they kept their Cherokee names.  Joshua changed Mary's name to Mary "Pollie Sue" Garrett when they married.  He called her Pollie, as he did his first wife.Mary Patrick's parents and grandparents escaped from the Tail of Tears as they were on the route. They were members of the "Paint" clan. They hid out in an area SW of McMinnville , Tennessee.   They later went along with many other Cherokee to the area of Putnam, Overton, and Clay counties.  Many Cherokee knew of this area because of "The Standing Stone"  at Monterey. They died when Mary was twelve; she was taken in by a family of Kirkpatrick’s in Clay County and raised by them. She took the name Mary Patrick; she only used part of the Kirkpatrick name. Pollie Sue was a mid-wife who delivered many children.  She was taught this skill by her mother and Grand Mother.  Joshua, he husband, was a "Medicine Man" that is why people called him "Dock".  She delivered almost all of my father's brothers and sisters, including my father. Her name appears on many birth certificates of people born in Overton/Clay County area.Joshua served in the Civil War on the side of the South. He was captured by some Union Soldiers.  They did not shoot him because he was an Indian, and not worth a bullet.  They hang him instead because he refused to sign the Indian Tready.  Having been left for dead, a Cherokee Indian who had been watching the whole thing,  cut him down and revived him by kicking him in the chest. This Story was told to me by my, Grandmother Bertha and my father Bobby Joe Arney,  who was helped raised by Pollie Sue.   He really loved her, and she did him because he was not afraid of her.  Many of the other children were scared of her,  because of her darker skin, and Indian looks.   They had seen to many western films.  He said, "She was really a great person!"Story by Bertha Claudine Melton Arney (Added by David Arney)

    1. [ARNEY] ARNEYS in Virginia
    2. Stan Arney
    3. Q? About the Arney's in Virginia My line of Arney's is from Jacob Arney, who left behind his Will, dated in 1782. His "known" children, include:Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr. (1750-1834), died in Lincoln County, NCAdam "Lawrence" Arney (1751-1802), died in Burke County, NCJohann Heinrich "Henry" Arney, Sr. (1755-1830), died in Owen County, INAnna Elisabeth Arney-Setser/Setzer (1761-1849), died in Caldwell County, NCPeter Arney (1772-1845), died in Overton County, TNCatherine Arney-Edleman (1774-????), died in Burke County, NC So . . . Who were the Arney's, in Wythe County, Virginia? Well, we know that Jacob Arney, moved his family from the area of York County, Pennsylvania, around 1767.   This family made stops in Stokes County, Surry County, Burke County (Caldwell County), and Tryon County (Lincoln), North Carolina, with both Jacob Arney, and his son, Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr. dying in Lincoln County, North Carolina. It's "believed" that Jacob Arney's son, Peter Arney, moved to the area of Wythe County, Virginia, around 1793, where he married Margaret (maiden name/surname, unknown), and began his family (i.e. having children).  It's also "believed" that this same Peter Arney, moved to the Cumberland area, between Kentucky & Tennessee, around 1799, settling in the area that would become Overton County, Tennessee.  Although, there is some speculation about several of his children being born in Virginia, while he was "supposedly" living in Tennessee.  (Best genealogical "guess" is, while he was clearing the land, etc., he may have returned to Virginia, during the Winter months, to spend time with his Wife and family, i.e. creating more children). Some believe that a Sebastian Arney, who lived in the area, along with a Henry, and Tobias, may have also been related to Jacob Arney, in some way.
