Author: cwjabernard Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.arney/122.123.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I found "We are the Arney's" at the Family History Library, Salt Lake City. They are not on the main floor but in the compressed files somewhere in the basement. A librarian will call for the periodicals and they will be brought to you if you are there. It might be possible to order them through your local Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church. However, I am not certain the newsletters can be removed from the UT library. 1. [ARNEY] Need help with my website Please
    2. Stan Arney
    3. Hi all, Well, I have had a very "basic" website, concentrating on Arney Genealogy, up for a few years now,  but I want it to be much more.  Unfortunately, I'm no website designer, and even though they have software to help, I'm still at a loss.  Mainly, because I'm not sure what kind of "content" to put up on it. I'm not asking anyone to help me, create or run it, and I'm not asking for any money. I would simply like, when you get a chance to take a quick glance, and give me suggestions that might be helpful to you.  In this way, I know it will be helpful to others. Now, I'm not wanting to bog it down with pages of gedcom after gedcom, if you know what I mean. I'm still actively looking for what I term, "DTP" (Definitive Tangible Proof), scans or photocopies of documents, etc. I have finally received a "scan" of Jacob Arney's Will, written in 1782, and it reveals more of the rest of the Will, than I have ever seen.  I'm still working at trying to enhance the image, so that it might be "transcribed" some day, soon. I also, recently received images of Jacob Arney's first (and only known) land purchase, in Tryon County, North Carolina, in 1772, with a more in debt description of his tract. I'm also in the process of receiving a scanned image of Peter Arney being "bound out" to John Fullenwider, in 1787. I plan on adding all these items on the website soon. So, if anyone can give me some ideas, I would definitely appreciate it. Thank you, for your time, consideration, and cooperation.

    1. [ARNEY] Finding the grave marker of Johann Heinrich "Henry" Arney, Sr.
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: arney9thgeneration Surnames: Arney, Arny, Earney, Erney, Erny Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.arney/343/mb.ashx Message Board Post: August 10, 1981 Mary Speac, who is now the only resident on the east side of the road, is a descendant of Lawrence Arney. She told us that she had seen the grave of Henry Arney in the cemetery on the Don Collumbough farm. We finally found the cemetery on the Collumbough farm, sort of south and west of Arney on one of the typical winding, overgrown road s that must have been an Indian trail. Don Collumbough's son happened to be in the front yard. He informed us that Don is no longer living. He gave us permission to drive through the field across the road to reach the cemetery. It took a great deal of searching until we found Henry's gravestone. Without Mary's description of it, I'm not sure we'd ever have found it or known if we had, since only some of the marks were still legible. It was just a large rock with some other letters still readable that had been scratched in with a sharp instrument. What we could make out was HE??? ARN?Y SEP 27 18?? It was the first burial ground set aside in Jefferson Township on land that had belonged to Henry Arney Sr. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The question to answer is when did our Arney’s come over? It clearly would have been between 1708-1741, but on what Ship?

Also, an "old family story states" that, she had 5 Aunts, and her Parents didn't wish to hurt any of them, so she was given all 5 Aunt's names, who or what the names of those 5 Aunt's were is unclear. She can be found in the US Federal Census, as follows: 1900 Pickett County, TennesseeNancy L Arney, 23, born in Tennessee (Parents born in Tennessee) 1910 Pickett County, TennesseeNancy L Arney, 34, born in Tennessee (Parents born in Tennessee) 1920 Pickett County, TennesseeCresy Arney, 42, born in Tennessee (Parents born in Tennessee) 1930 Clay County, TennesseeLucy Arney, 53, born in Tennessee (Parents born in Tennessee) 1940 Pickett County, TennesseeNancy Arney, 62, born in Tennessee In order to trace back, her family, I need to know, specifically, who that family was. 1. [ARNEY] Peter Arney's Journal
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: arney9thgeneration Surnames: ARNEY, ARNY Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.arney/341/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Peter Arney (1772-1845), who was born in Tryon County, North Carolina, and died in Overton County, Tennessee. In 1787, Peter Arney, age 15, was bound by the Court, to John Fullenwider/Fulenwider, to learn the trade of a Miller, until the age of 21. I'm praying someone may know the whereabouts of "Peter Arney's Journal". It was in the attic of an old Arney house, which was sold to the Grand-daughter of Carley Arney. The journal talks about Peter Arney being an "indentured servant", and running away (from North Carolina) to live with family in Virginia. Which would finally explain why Peter Arney went to Wythe County, Virginia, where he married Margaret (maiden name/surname, unknown), and began his family. The journal may also be with the family of Peter Arney's eldest son, Adam Arney (1797-1871?), descendants of Adam Arney, visited the home (in question) before or just after, its' sale to Carley Arney's Grand-daughter, and may have taken items from the home. It has been sought after, for several years. I pray that the person or party, that had his Journal, realized it's significance and kept it. It would definitely be a family treasure of the highest level. Peter Arney is this branch of the Arney's, "Tennessee Patriarch", meaning many of the ancestors that live(d) in Tennessee, are his descendants. If you may know, someone, who may know about "Peter Arney's Journal", or can put me on the path to learning more. Please contact me. Author: arney9thgeneration Surnames: Arney, Arny, Earney, Erney, Erny Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.arney/339/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have been trying to track down, the "Arney Plantation", in Lincoln County, North Carolina, to little avail, so far. The few records, I have found, only show Jacob Arney, purchasing 200 acres on the South Fork of the Catawba River, in 1772. While Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr. purchased several lots in Lincolnton, which leads me to believe that the "Arney Plantation" must have been near Lincolnton. I still believe that both Jacob & Christian, Sr. were buried on the Arney Plantation. Unfortunately, I don't know, in what direction the Arney Plantation was from Lincolnton. If it was North or South, it could have been placed in a different County (Catawba/Gaston). On the other hand, if it was East of Lincolnton, it could still have been in Lincoln County. I do know, that there is an Arney street, that is East of Lincolnton, while still being in Lincolnton, called "Boger City". If the street was named after the Arney family, it's possible that the plantation was near there or could have been named after the lots that Christian, Sr. had purchased. I "assume", that Christian, Sr. received the Arney Plantation, after his father's (Jacob) death. I know that Christian, Sr., left his son, Christian, Jr., a choice of the Arney Plantation or lots in Lincolnton, from what I understand he took both. I know that Christian, Jr., left his Widow & minor children, the plantation and lots in Lincolnton. After Christian, Jr.'s death, his Widow got to keep the plantation, but there was a lengthy, Court battle, in which his children's appointed guardian, was forced to make the children sell off several lots in Lincolnton, to pay their father's debts. Matthew Wilson, son-in-law (husband of Julianna "Uly" Arney) of Christian, Sr. attempted to force Christian, Jr. to give him the Arney Plantation, due to debts owed, but failed. Who received the Arney Plantation, after the death of Christian, Jr.'s Widow, I don't know? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
