Hi all! I am now back from vacation to Arkansas and Oklahoma and am ready to do census lookups again for Newton County in the years 1850-1880. We got to visit several cemeteries in both Newton and Scott County, and saw many places I had visited as a child. Took lots of pictures and thouraghly enjoyed ourselves. Dinah at the Newton County Historical Society was great, as were the people at the Newton County Courthouse in Jasper. I was very empressed with the courtesy and the genuine kindness of all the people we met and all of the places we visited or shopped at. Have a great story to tell!! I had been corresponding with Winona Wilkenson of Houston for a couple of months and on the morning we visited the Newton County Courthouse she and her husband were there too!!
