    3. Hi everyone! A month ago we visited several Scott and Newton County cemeteries. I noticed that in several instances there would be a large gravestone with the husband's and wife's names on it and several feet in front or in back of that stone would be two smaller stone side by side a couple of feet apart. On these stones would be either their first names and a date or it would say something like Mom on one and Dad on the other. Usually these smaller stones looked much older and more worn. Can anyone tell me if this is a tradition? Are they perhaps the original stones, are the "footstones", what are they? Thanks very much.
