All of the thoughts, emails, and virtual cards and flowers really kept her spirits up going into the surgery. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!! As expected, she is in intensive care for 1-2 days with a wonderful staff at John's Hopkins Hospital taking good care of her. My father and I saw her briefly this evening, but she was still out of it from the anesthesia. Report from the doctor: The surgeon removed the right lobe of her liver including the 2mm cancerous tumor that was located inside it. They also found another tumor in the left lobe of her liver, which was unexpected and measured approximately 1 inch. They removed that portion of the left lobe of her liver as well. In total, the right lobe was 60% of her liver and the portion of the left lobe that they removed was approximately 10%. She will be able to function with the remaining 30% of her liver. Her liver will regenerate to 100% in approximately 6 months. Isn't it amazing how the body works! She did very well during the surgery and the surgery lasted longer than expected due to the unknown tumor in her left lobe. Please keep all of the positive energy coming!!!
