AOL is not the only ISP that is affected by this problem but right now it is going thru the system and I feel you should be made aware. Last week I was sent an instant message from someone I did not know. Asked me a few questions and I refused to give a direct answer. I told them I was not who they thought I was and they asked me why another screen name I do not remember had me on their buddy list. Told them I had no idea. They asked if I was in Canada which I am not but told them again I was not who they thought I was. They began telling me how they had hacked in to this screen name and was using their service and wanted to know my name and where I was located. At this point I did click the Notify AOL on the instant message. I do not know what if anything happened to them. BUT I got an email from a contact this evening and I am going to give you a bit of their email: "I am going crazy. someone stole my password and sent porn stuff to thousands of people. I have email after email telling me off. I had to call aol and report it. I have changed my password 3 times today. AOL sent me a email with a virus scanner in it so i put it thru my system. I dont know how these people hackin and get your password. I am so upset. I have even had to disable my buddy list where I show up on you. People were instant messaging me and jumping on me. I have such a headach. Have you had any problem like this. I hope AOL has it straightened out. They said they had secured me, but I am so scared of seeing these emails again. Let me know if you have had any problem. AOL talked like it was going around. They were extra busy today. they said the system had something wrong, but did not tell me what." Now my point is this is an innocent victim and I hate to hear they are going thru all this because of someone elses actions. So think twice before you keep the war going. And above all else NOTIFY AOL (or your ISP) if something doesn't seem quite right. I don't usually do things like this but I think you should be aware and quite frankly I think it should be the ISP's place to notify all their members so they can help get things like this stopped. And I don't want you to have the same thing happen to you. Thank you Kathy
