New to the list and new to Arkansas research. Thank you all for reading my post. Smiths are notoriously hard and this one appears to be harder than most. Of the nine identified children of John and Elizabeth Auberry Smith, who married in Surry County, North Carolina 1819, this one has given me the most grief. Does anyone have any information at all - no matter how insignificant it may seem - on Giles Smith, born ca 1839 in Surry County, NC? He is said to have been wounded during the Civil War and to have died in Newton County, Arkansas. I have nothing at all concerning wife or children, when he died, or where he is buried. Siblings were Hawkins, Miller, Anderson, John W., Hezekiah, Elijah, Bennett and Micha Ann (Isaac Fleming). Thanks in advance, Linda Smith Murray Marietta, Georgia
