I am wondering if any of the following names/connections ring a bell to anyone out there. I received this information, practically word for word, from my great uncle. He transcribed this from my great grandmother Gertrude "Gerty" Phillips Martin. Gertie was about 98 years old when she died in 1989. "Harvey Martin, brother of Richard Martin, lived 11 miles SW of Western Grove in Newton County, Arkansas. He was a farmer and sold fruits and vegetables to miners. James and Nancy Martin lived with Harvey when their parents, Richard and Sarah Martin, died in a house fire in 1901. Richard and Sarah's other son, William "Willie", lived with Lawrence (a cousin of Richard's). Lawrence was a farmer and was a Sherriff for a short time at Harrison, Arkansas (Boone County). Also, He was married to Nettie and had two daughters, Verma and Gladys. Elmer, another son of Richard and Sarah, lived with Olive Jones, his cousin. William Martin is buried at Hog Creek cemetery, in Newton County, along with his parents, Richard and Sarah Martin. " Richard(1868-1901) and Sarah(1860s-1901; nee McGuire) Martin had the following children: James Lafayette (1898-1973) William (1894-1978) Elmer (1896-1925) Nancy (1900-1905; She apparently burned to death in a fire not related to her parents' death.) Please reply if you know of this particular Martin line. Thanks!
