I sending you all warnings in hope to stop problems happening to you. Usually we see a rash of virus's going around after Christmas. But many are being effected right now. This is an example of what you might receive from someone with a virus. >>Subj: Re: Re: 1830 Census Date: 11/24/2001 11:14:30 PM Central Standard Time From: _XXXXX@XXXXX.com File: DOCS.DOC.pif (29020 bytes) DL Time (28800 bps): < 1 minute<< Even though I had been communicating with the person I received it from I emailed her back to make sure she did in fact send me a download. Most people with a virus don't even know they have it until they are notified from someone they sent it. My first indication she had a virus was in her email address it does not start with "_" even though the rest of the email address was correctly hers. The repeat of "Docs" and ".pif" then made me leary of downloading before asking. It only takes a quick email to find out if the person that sent an email to you actually did send it. Even if you know the person and have been communicating with them take PRECAUTIONS. BTW she did email me back and she did NOT send the download and was trying to clean up a virus from her computer. Good luck in your search! Kathy Stokes Hudson
