    1. [ARNEWTON] "New Ozark Cousins"
    2. Renshaw
    3. Can anyone tell me if there are any Ramey's or Wheeler's in the book called "New Ozark Cousins"? I would like to order it if they are. Are these families found in any other book about Newton Co.? Anne Renshaw >According to Bud Phillips in his book "New Ozark Cousins", David Martin Meadows who married Rosey Smith and Thomas Benton Meadows who married Adeline Dial were brothers and children of Williamson T. "Bill" Meadows and Adlisia J. Buck. This Bill Meadows was the son of Williamson M. "Jack" Meadows and his wife Lydia (Unknown),who was the son of Jacob M. Meadows 1793 and Jane W. Harmon, who was from Greenville Co. North Carolina. Bud Phillips was a school teacher who taught all over northwest part of Arkansas and knew many of these families. Mr. Phillips quoted Benton Meadows as saying his grandfather (Jack) lived in the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee and was killed in or during the times of the Civil War. Part of the family settled in Crawford County, Arkansas. David Martin and Thomas Benton settled at Treat, Pope County, Arkansas. This is in the very northwest corner of the county and parts of the community are actually in Johnson County. Both of these men are listed in t! >he 1900 Johnson County census. Williamson M. and Adlisia J. Meadows are buried in Shannon Cemetery in Pope County at Treat along with Thomas Benton and several of his family, including Rachel Owen Dial. Thomas Benton Meadows sons, Willie J. married my husband's great aunt, Lether Ruth Boyd, so we do have more information on this family. >Lina Boyd linajaneboyd@hotmail.com >
