The Rev. George Nye will officiate. Mr. Dickey, 83, died Thursday (March 7, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford. He was born Sept. 4, 1918, in Bass, Ark., to Dorse Mitchell and Elpha Sue McCutcheon Dickey. Mr. Dickey graduated from Arkansas Technical College. On April 1, 1944, in Harrison, Ark., he married Buna Mary Fults, who survives. During World War II, Mr. Dickey served in the U.S. Army in the Aleutian Islands and in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. He worked as an insurance agent, mechanic, millworker and union representative. He served as the superintendent of building maintenance for the Coquille School District. The couple moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992. He was a member of the Coquille Valley Elks and a scoutmaster with Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Dickey enjoyed elk hunting and was an avid reader. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Don A., Salem, and Joe K., Manassas, Va.; a daughter, Jeanne L. Rasmussen, Medford; three brothers, Carl Donald, Harrison, Ark., William Wayne, St. Peters, Mo., and Jack Denton, Berryville, Ark.; one sister, Nelda Kathleen Burrows, Benton, Ark.; and six grandchildren. Mr. Dickey was preceded in death by a brother, Ford Jarvis Dickey. Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Conger Morris, 715 W. Main St., Medford.
