The following is a list of the dates that the States started furnishing birth and death certificates. The first date are Birth Certificates. The second date are Death Certificates However, not all counties complied with the law and Arkansas was one of the states which did not furnish birth and death certificates until way up in the 1930s and 1940s in many counties. In Newton County, Arkansas, many people went to the nearest hospital which was in Boone County and therefore, when sending for a death certicate, you need to take into account that the death certificate may be in an adjoining county such as Boone, Pope or even in Springfield, Missouri.
