George Essex's date of death is 21Jan1989. >From Newton County Times Newspaper clipping: "George Essex, aged 97, of the Newton County Nursing Home, died Saturday,January 21, at North Arkansas Medical Center. He was born October 19,1891 at Red Rock, the son of Esquire and Sarah Shatswell Essex. He was a farmer and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Funeral was Monday,January 23, at the Crossroads Church with Boyd Spencer officiating. Burial was in Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel". An added clipping I collected was interesting: "Estel Brown of Oklahoma City, Mildred Sikes, of Haskell and Blanche Wisbaum of Tulsa, visited some of their cousins while they were here for the funeral of their uncle George Essex, last week. They are the daughters of the late Oliver and Tilda Essex Cheatham. They went to Oklahoma in a covered wagon when Blanche was months old. Estel and Mildred remember the long trip". If one wants to send for George's death certificate, he died at North Arkansas Medical Center which is in Boone County,AR. So many people go to Boone County to the North Arkansas Medical Center and when sending for a death certificate for a Newton County person, I find you have to put down the county they died in.......not Newton County.
