I just read that Newton Co., was originally Carrol Co. Did you find the 1850 census on the Newton Co., web site? I am sure this is the same family. I am having trouble with James Nichols because some people list him as James John Nichols and others as James W. Nichols. Anybody know which it is? Thank you.
