    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: FOX, HARKLEROAD Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xV.2ADE/830 Message Board Post: John Fox and Ellen Harkleroad They were probably buried together about 1900 when they reportedly died in a farm fire. The children survived the fire, and their names were: Louis ( 1892 ) Ida ( 1894 ) Carrie ( likely my grandmother ) ( 1895 ) John ( Dec 1897 ). I found these children on the 1900 census of Proctor, Crittenden County, pg 28 of 40. They were apparently in the foster care of a woman named Lealier Bird. 10 years later Carrie and John were living with Bud Harkleroad in Memphis. Uncles I've found on later census' with Carrie were likely: "BUD" Harkleroad born 1870 in Arkansas ( 1910 census ) Arthur Harkleroad born 1880 in Arkansas. ( 1920 census with Bud...not with Carrie ) With perhaps a Henrietta Young was somehow related to Carrie, as I find her on the 1900 census of Crittenden with a man called Tobe Harkleroad, who was 25, head of the house, and listed Henrietta ( born 1844 in Arkansas ) as his mother. I have carefully gone through online census records, and just can't find this family together....the fire destroying the 1890 census really hurt in this case. I have found land grant records in Newton county in 1889 and 1891 for a John and Ellen Fox , but have been uncertain if these are really the parents....the census records mentioned above more firmly tie to the few memories that exist for Carrie. On her Social Security application she stated she had been born 1895 ( October or November ).
