    1. [ARNEWTON] Re: James W. Smith children
    2. Vivian, I sent you this information on 6/ll/00 on the James W Smith family. This is what I show on my James W Smith family group sheets. Wouldn't it be nice if people used middle names when they list such names as John Smith or James Smith? And used the right ages when they married? I have copied all Newton County,AR. Smith marriages up to 1932. ========= James W Smith(born 2 Oct 1847) Newton Co.AR. son of John Smith and Mary Polly Rna Rowland Smith, married Mary Tennison (born Nov 1853 per census, but 6 Nov 1851 per Bible record)in 1867(Book A,page 14) in Newton Co.AR. The early pages of the marriage records are missing, so assume ca 1867(right after Civil War). I have Thomas J Tennison's Civil War Pension Record(where children applied). She must be the Mary M Tennison b :6 Nov 1851 per the list of children contained in the pension file. But she was not shown with them on the 1860 Newton Co.AR. census, visit #401. I can scan this page and send you, if you want it. It is from the Bible record. Her mother was Sarah Caroline Liles b 9 Sept 1832 in Tenn.who died 18 Sept 1882\7? The handwriting is awfully hard to read. Thomas J Tennison was born 9 Jan 1826 (record states Alabamy) but is always listed as born in Indiana (Spencer Co.?)? There was a handwritten sheet in this file with their birthdates written in. It is taken from a bible. Children of James W and Mary M Tennison Smith: (1)John Allen Smith b:May 1869 (Mar 1868?). m: Mary Elizabeth "Bess"Shatswell on 20 Oct 1887 Newton Co.AR. children: i: Peggy Angeline Smith b:18 Apr1890 m: Dillard Rose 13 Feb 1910 Franklin Co.AR She died 1965 in Bakersfield,CA (Have Franklin Co.AR. Marriage Books) ii:James W Smith b :Oct 1891. Could not find a marriage for him. iii:Sarah Emily Smith b 14 Sept 1894 . She married John Wesley Waldron 25 Jan 1912 Franklin Co.AR. Sarah died 20 Nov 1934 in Minco,Grady Co.OK iv: Mattie "Jinny" b: Aug 1897 . She married Samuel Waldron on 8 Sept 1914 in Sallisaw OK. She died 15 Oct 1942 in Lamont,Kern Co.CA. The 1900 Newton Co.AR. census, Pleasant Hill Twp.#109-114 states they had 5 children,4 living and rented the farm. (2) Peggie Smith b 1874 (Peggie is nickname for Margaret) m: W B Riddle 22 Feb 1896(E299) Newton Co.AR. (3)Emmaline Smith b May 1875 m: G W Peoples(19)of Red Rock on 15 Dec 1893 (E46)Newton Co.AR. Children shown on 1900 Newton Co. AR.census,White Twp. are: James N, Lona B and Elmer G Peoples. (4)J T "Jep"Smith , age 22,b 1Jan 1878 who married Lizabeth Peoples (age 22)on 28 Jan 1900 Newton Co.AR. 1900 Newton Co.AR.census,Pleasant Hill Twp. #152 he d: 6 Feb 1961 with burial Cross Roads Cemetery,Newton Co.AR. I know the Cemetery Book states he was son of John and Mary Shatswell Smith but I knew that could not be right as John and Mary were married in 1887 . ====== There was a Jetha Smith, age 32, born AR on the 1910 Newton Co.AR. census, White Twp.,Visit 129 with wife Mary E, age 32 and children: i: Vestia Smith, age 9 ii:Ernie L ,age 7 iii: Bessie M, age 5 iv: James S, age 5/12 This above couple were the right ages for J T and Lizzie Smith. There is a Russell E Smith, born 14 Feb 1916 who died 11 Mar 1962 who is son of Jep and Lizzie and is buried in the same cemetery as "Jep "and "Lizzie" (5)Virginia S "Jennie P"Smith b March 1881 (census) m: Alfred (William Alfred) Shatswell(22) on 22 Jan 1897 #6 Newton Co.AR. On 1900 Newton Co.AR.census, White Twp.,Visit #166, show son Floyd b:1898. She had two children, one living. William "Alfred "Shatswell was son of Thomas C Shatswell a nd Ruth Mariah Jones. (6)Stephen R (Steve)Smith b 15 Aug 1884 m: Lillie Peoples on 27 May 1906 # 172 Newton Co.AR. Lillie was daughter of John Peoples and Sarah (maiden name unknown). and show their children were : i:Nettie A, b 1907 ii:Arnold, born 1909 1910 Newton Co.AR.Census,Pleasant Hill #70. Later children: iii: Ava iv:Bynam and v: Imogene vi: and Lorene Smith. (7)Frank Smith b April 1889 m: Myrtle Campbell on 7 Aug 1910 #623. They may have gone to the Ft.Gibson,OK area where her people went. Her parents were William K Campbell and Mary E Pierce who later married a Mr. Pool after Kenison Campbell died in Newton Co.AR. (8)Louisana Smith b April 1892 m: Virgil L Cowell(28) of Johnson County,AR on 23 Aug 1910 #628. Believe this was his second marriage. They may have gone to Johnson Co. AR. or Oklahoma. This is all the children I have that were listed on 1900 Newton Co.AR. census, Pleasant Hill Twp.,visit 151. Shows 11 children with 9 living. =========== You had Russell Smith down as son, but Russel was son of David Crockett Smith. And a Russell E.Smith was son of J T "Jep"and "Lizzie"Peoples Smith. ===== Let me know what you think. Evelyn Flood Rkinfolks@aol.com

    1. [ARNEWTON] Listowner...a New virus as of today
    2. Sorry..just another update on keeping the listers clean and running...good luck Kathy CNET | VIRUS & SECURITY NEWSLETTER Holiday-themed worm deletes Windows files December 19, 2001 Vol. 1, No. 3 Just in time for the holidays, w32.Reeezak.a@mm arrives as an e-mail with "Happy New Year" as the subject line, then attempts to delete your Windows System subdirectory, redirect your Internet Explorer to a political Web site, and disable popular antivirus software. Another new worm, W32.Gokar.a@mm, also disables antivirus software (without deleting Windows files). Obviously, you're best off avoiding infection in the first place, so in this issue, I've included my basic steps to protect your PC. Also, to get some perspective on how these recent worms have affected businesses and users across the Internet, I've included a link to News.com stories covering Goner, BadTrans.B, and other recent viral attacks. With a little patience and persistance, you too can have a computer virus-free holiday season. http://www.cnet.com/software/0-7760531-8-8224240-1.html

    1. [ARNEWTON] Listowner Beware...and patience to the new ones
    2. Just when things calmed down .... I have gotten 3 emails today with the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs attachment today. DO NOT open or download this...it is a virus. If you are sending me information to post on the websites that are attachments...I am NOT taking attachments at this time. You will need to be sure your submission will come directly thru email only. I always send a reply back to let you know I did recieve your information. If you sent something and did not get a reply from me...it came as an attachment and I deleted it. I hope you all understand. The year is coming to a close and soon all of the queries that have been posted this year will be archived. I do not make email corrections once they are archived. You will need to send me a new query with the new email address for the correct email to be posted. Have safe travels during the holidays. And remember within the next week we will have a lot of new people receiving computers...so even though we know our way around and how to submit queries to the mailing lists...and most of us know to not download anything with out first checking it out...and most of us know the hoaxes...this will all be new to them..so let's be patient and show our courtsey and knowledge to them. Apparently, John, Nancy and Charity moved with widowed daughter Martha CLARK MEEKS & children to the area called Skullyville, IT. They are on the 1900 Choctaw Nation census, but Charity isn't, as she was married by then. Martha married Isom RALLS (also) by then. The area is later Haskell and LeFlore Counties, OK. It has "hi" in the subject and in the body has: How are you ? When I saw this screen saver, I immediately thought about you I am in a harry, I promise you will love it! It has an attachment of gone.scr or goner.scr. This virus will delete files! DO NOT open this "screen saver". For more information check http://vil.mcafee.com/dispVirus.asp?virus_k=99272& Also REMEMBER the virus I warned you about last week is still going around..what you want to watch for is a "_" before the person's email address..do NOT download this it is a BADTRANS virus. Be smart and email the person back IF you know them and ask if they intended to send you an attachment b4 you even think about downloading an attachment. If you don't know them DELETE IT. Virus scans can't detect new virus's until they are out there...just keep updating you virus scans. If you have comments please send them directly to me..or if you are having problems contact me. 2. I am not supporting any of the virus scans mentioned below..but I am trying to give you added info that may help you if you are infected. If a virus is rewritten in the smallest way the virus scans may not catch them until the company rewrites a new update to detect it. I have been busy the last few days sending out messages to those that have sent me virus attachements. They seem to be slowing down I am only getting about 5 per 2 hours now. Hope this info helps some of you. >>This has not been fun to say the least . I will be drooping McAffee and buying Norton Antivirus . McAfee DID NOT !! pick it up and my dat files are up to date . This is twice they didn't catch a virus . I study history and they are history . Also McAfee , Symantec , Trend give different removal directions . Not all say to restart your computer in Dos Mode . I have found out if you don't restart in Dos mode the virus goes right back . More info on W32/Badtrans.B virus kern32.exe cp_25389 0r cp_23421.NLS ( check the Cp and any file for the date created to be sure ) Beware , it drops a trojan which becomes another virus Trojan/PSW/HOOKER.a C:windows>system\kdll.ll I have not rescanned again yet so This should not have any attachments . I didn't want to wait 3 1/2 hours for the scan before . But I have rechecked three times for the files and they are no longer there .<<
