    1. [ARNEWTON] Isom Gibson: VA. - WV. - MO. - AR.
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xV.2ADE/498 Message Board Post: Looking for information on Isom Gibson. Here's what I know: He was born in April 1818 in VA. Apparently in the western part of the state that became WV. I say this because in one census he says he's from VA and another census he says he's from WV. The first time I can place him is in the 1870 Dallas Co., MO. census. The census says he was born in 1818. Another census gives the month of his birth as April. He is married to a lady named Sarah, who, the census states is from NC. The 1870 census has them with the following children: Isaiah: b 1854 in AR.; Caladonia: b Abt. 1863 in AR.; Sarah Jane: b 1866 in IL.; Davidson: b Abt. 1868 in MO.; William Edward: b 1870 in MO. The 1880 census for Newton Co., AR. shows the family again. They have an additional daughter, Ellen Mahala, b 1873 in MO. He also has a new wife, Mary. I found that Mary had been married before to someone named Gaylor. Her maiden name was either Goldston or Goldstein. I can then find Isom up to the 1900 census when he is 82 years old and living with his daughter, Ellen. He does not appear in 1910 census. I have marriage records for Newton Co., AR., which show Isom performing weddings in the 1880s. I have yet to determine what church he belonged to. I have been unable to find his church credentials. One of the marriage licenses he signed states that the credentials are recorded in Sabastian Co., AR. I have not found him or the family in any 1850 or 1860 census so far. I have made contact with descendants of Isaiah, Sarah Jane, William and Ellen but none of them appear to know anmything about Isom. I need help on Isom, where he lived, where and when he died, who his parents and sibling [if any] were, any thing that can get me started again. I would also like to know what happened to his daughter, Caladonia, and son, Davidson. I’m guessing that Davidson because of his age in 1870 census and the fact that he doesn’t appear in the 1880 census probably died from cause unknown. Caladonia because of her age in 1870 was probably married by 1880 but I don't know. I would appreciate any help that you can give me on my problem. Parkerel@hotmail.com

I have created a Survey that asks questions about this wonderous time in our nations history. If you would like to leave behind some kind of message to our ancestors to come here is your chance. This survey will be included in my family history so that my child, and grandchildren shall truly know what it was like to be an American during this historic time. 1. [ARNEWTON] Harriett Sparks in Wayton in 1899/1900
    2. Harriett Sparks, born Oct 1884, married Edgar Cass, 21 of Wayton on 22 Oct 1899 Book F, Page 326 Newton County,AR. J L Daniels signed as surety Married by W R Breedlove, M.G. There is no age listed for Harriett on the marriage license but she was definitely under age if she were 15 on the 1900 census. Usually a parent signed as surety if the girl were under age. They are shown on the 1900 Newton Co. AR. census, Murray Township, Visit 269 and she was 15 years of age then. I show Harriett Sparks to be the 12th child of Jesse Sparks and Elizabeth Owens. Family is on the 1880 Newton Co. AR census, Jackson Township. It is said Harriett was born blind and never married but do not know if this is true. If you have access to the 1900 microfilm itself, there will be a column listing if this person were blind. Have done lots of research on the Jesse Sparks family as their eldest daughter Sarah Jane Sparks married a J L Barber and then Simon Flud as his third wife. That is why it is so important to look at the 1900 Newton County, Arkansas census as the women born after 1880 and before 1900 census (1890 census burned) were marrying and leaving home. And that is why the Newton County, Arkansas Marriage Records are so important also. The only other Harriett Sparks I have noticed in my research was Harriett Self Sparks. This Harriett Self was born Jan 1888 and married Charlie Sparks. So I believe the Harriett Sparks mentioned marrying Edgar Cass, is Harriett Sparks, daughter of Jesse Sparks and Elizabeth Owens. 2. Vivian, The typed copy of the 1860 Newton Co. The 1860 census also shows: Visit 401 Tennison, Thomas 34 m Ind Farmer Caroline 25 F Tenn Nancy J 10 F Ark *Martha 7 F Ark John W 5 M Ark **Martha 4 F Ark Joseph 1 M Ark *Martha should have been Mathey or Mathew **Martha should have been Elizabeth (*I base this per Thomas Tennison's Civil War Pension Record) When I typed the 1860 census and put it on-line, i showed Tennison,Thomas 34 m Ind Farmer (Co.F, lst Ark.Inf.(Union)Civil War-died in war per his Civil War Pension Record) Caroline(Liles) 25? f Tenn Nancy J 10 f Ark Mary M(b 1861 died young) she was not on the census and I just put her on to show that she had been born to this couple.....could have explained this better when I typed the information. She was not listed on the original census. Mathew(Mathy) 7 m Ark John W 5 m Ark Elizabeth(Martha)4 f Ark Joseph 1 m Ark Per Thomas Tennison's Civil War Pension, his children were: Nancy J Tennison, born 26 Aug 1850 Mary M,born 6 Nov 1851 (not on 1860 census, died young) Mathew, born 5 July 1853 John W, born 7 Jan 1855 Elizabeth, born 21 May 1856 Joseph, born 21 Feb 1859 Sarah D, born 25 May 1861 Cyntha C, born 25 Dec 1862 I show Thomas Tennison's death date as 8 June 1864. His birth date was 9 Jan 1826. The Bible record sheet shows he was born in Alabamy, but he is always listed as being born in Indiana (Spencer County?) on census. They were married 9 March 1848 in Newton Co. AR. Sarah Caroline Liles was born 9 Sept 1832 in Tenn Died 18 Sep 1882\7? Do not know who her parents were. I show Thomas Tennison's parents as: Thomas Tennison and Mary Ann Bristow, daughter of Samuel Bristow and Lavina (maiden name unknown). Mary Ann Bristow married Thomas Tennison on 4 March 1820 in Spencer Co. Indiana. You can check this Indiana marriage by going to the Allen Co. Indiana Library Web site. Mary Ann Bristow was born 11 March 1803 in Ohio County,Kentucky. Evelyn Flood Rkinfolks@aol.com
