Thank you, Kathy, for telling us about the site. Found my name and deleted it. But the "Anybirthday.com"site would be where thieves would look. There was another site mentioned on that "Anybirthday.com"site. Doubt if they would take the time to look on many web sites for names, etc. unless they were up to selling names and birthdates to businesses. Maybe that is a good business. But it is true that some websites have birthdates, mother's maiden name, etc. and this is what I object to very much. But many people are in a race to see how many names they can put on their website and really don't care about what might happen as a result. Evelyn Rkinfolks@aol.com
_rayden@directlynx.net also sent out a suspicious attachment called "See my photos from my party" Becaue there was a dash_ before his\her address, deleted. Norton said the E-mail did not contain a virus, but I was suspicious and deleted it. Had received an E-mail attachment from a friend earlier with the same title"See my photos from my party". WELLLLLLLLLLLL SAID and many once they put your information there refuse to remove it as they seem to think they have done nothing wrong, regardless of a 75 year privacy act. so beware when you do share your family info with others. ---------- From: RKinfolks@aol.com[SMTP:RKinfolks@aol.com] Sent: Saturday, February 02, 2002 3:49 PM To: ARNEWTON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ARNEWTON] Stolen Identities and Genealogy Thank you, Kathy, for telling us about the site. I couldn't agree with you more! I personally use the privacy guidelines...example if the census isn't available it..isn't posted. And normally I will even go back further 10-20 years to be safe that no family member can be tracked. When I get submissions for my websites...I don't post it until I contact them and make mention of the privacy act and "stolen identities" and question if they are sure they want it posted. 99.9% of the time they decide they don't want it posted. Good luck in your search! Kathy Stokes Hudson >>I doubt that this web site is any more susceptible for identity theft than everyone posting on web-sites the place and dates of birth and mothers maiden name along with all the other personal data. I have seen sites with birthdates as recent as 2001 on living people.
This was sent thru one of my "help" list.... Kathy Stokes Hudson "One of my friends attended a fraud presentation by our FRAUD department at ***** Recently this friend was a victim of identity theft. While she was in this presentation, the instructor told her about a web site criminals use to obtain information about you. The website is www.anybirthday.com This web site has your name, zip code and birthday. Your birth date is a helpful tool for criminals to steal your identity. I pulled up my name and it had my full name, correct birth date, gender and zip code. I was able to delete this information from the website by clicking on the FAQ section, then click on the privacy section. I recommend that you go to this site and DELETE your information from their data base. Remember to check ALL versions of your name .. Check your nickname, maiden and your given name. Also, if you pull your listing, make sure to put in the date the same way that they do."

Luther P Phillips served in Co. K, First Arkansas Cavalry(Union) in the Civil War. The index of Union Soldiers states he was 28 when he enlisted on 25 July 1862 in Carroll Co.AR. It does not give his birth state. His widow signed for his pension in 1864, so that means he died before the war was over. There is no indication he died in Service, per the Pension Records Index. Have you thought about sending for his Civil War Pension Record? These records contain lots of information. You can send to the National Archives for these records. There is an on-line site where you can order the forms. Evelyn Rkinfolks@aol.com

(NW 1/4, Sec 32m Twp 15 W, Range 20. This is all the directions given in the cemetery book published by the Haddocks. According to my map of Newton Co this would be on the east side of Highway 7 about 7 or 8 miles south of Jasper. I'm not sure which would be the best way to go to it. It will be on a dirt road, some of it kind of rough. You could take Highway 374 down the mountain from Mockingbird Hill motel to Loghall and ask dierctions probably would be the best thing and the easiest to find. There is another way but I'm not sure I could tell you how to find it that way. Highway 374 is paved. You will find a community building/church at the foot of the mountain and will take a dirt road in the curve right before this building to the right. If you want a copy of the Newton Co map write to Ar Highway and Transportation Dept, I-30, Little Rock, Ar, 7! 2203. They did cost $1 but by now have probably gone up or you can stop at any district Highway Dept in AR. and asked for a copy. There is a district office just of I-40 at Russellville.
