Don't know if this will be any help in your research on Calvin Ball, but will post it and let you decide. I am researching John Ball. In the 1850 census of Independence County, Arkansas, there is a John Ball and his wife Anna. One of their children was a son named Cavon H. Ball, age 15, born in TN. The name is probably spelled wrong. Could be Calvin. In the 1860 census of Searcy Co. Arkansas, John Ball and his family are listed, minus this Cavon. In the 1880 census of Newton County, Arkansas, John Ball's widow, Anna was living with her youngest daughter, Anna J. Manus. You have Calvin and Sarah Ball living in Newton Co. AR in 1860. Just wondered if there might be a connection. Mary

Hello, It is not just a story.....it is actual fact. Did much research on the hanging in Limestone Valley, Arkansas of James Smith, David Flood and Berry Stone (all on the same tree) in May 1863. Hung by Confederates. Have the Civil War Pension records of James and David and wrote a story of this hanging, using the depositions of many men; story can be found on my "Kinfolks Stories by Evelyn Flood" on my Newton County, Arkansas Website. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xV.2ADE/524 Message Board Post: I am searching (in vain it seems) for the invisible Andrew J. Smith. I do know he was in Carroll County ( Jefferson Township) in the 1860's- then it became Boone County around 1870. He was married to Hepsebeth Jane Crain abt 1870 and they had 3 children, Thomas Andrew and Ruthey M.,the third one is unknown to me. I do know he was in Arkansas until 1902 but then he disappears ( probably passed away) and I haven't been able to find him since. The 1900 census for Boone County, shows him , his wife and Ruthey in Jefferson Township, the last known documentation of him that I have found is a land sale in 1902. The next imfo that I have found is the 1910 census for Bryan County ,Oklahoma. It lists Thomas as head of household with his wife, mother Jane and sister Ruthey but nothing on Andrew. The 1900 census lists Andrew as being born abt 1823 in Kentucky and Andrew's father being born in Virginia and his mother born in North Carolina. PLEASE, I NEED SOME SERIOUS HELP ON THIS ONE---! its been haunting me for years and i can't seem to get any info on him or past him . Thanks for any help and I will share any info I have. You can also look at my website at: www.geocities.com/mr_fixit_11/SMITH.html (it is case sensitive). If you would like to add a link on my website please email me. Thanks Again, Ed.
