    1. Re: [ARNEWTON] John Kilman Young aka Crockett Young
    2. Sandy, My notes show the John K Young family on the 1860 Newton Co. AR. census. They are in Boone Co. AR in 1870 and Boone Co.AR. in 1880 in Jefferson Twp. John K Young served in Co. E, 14th Arkansas Infantry (Confederate States of America). He applied for his Civil War Pension in 1901 from Newton Co.AR. He died 1/17/1929. There is an 1911 Biographical Sketch available on him. It is called Arkansas 1911 Census of Confederate Veterans. Believe you can obtain a copy of his sketch by writing to Arkansas History Commission One Capitol Mall Little Rock, AR 72201 (they have website and you may be able to possibly order this from them). OR LDS (Mormon)Fische 6,019,335 can be ordered from your nearest LDS (Mormon)Family History Library. This fische shows many soldiers names who applied for CSA Pensions. In the sketches I have seen, the man's name is listed, wife's name, childrens names and a little about the claimant's mother and father and where he was born. There used to be a website of Confederate Veterans where one could ask for a lookup of this 1911 Arkansas Confederate Veteran Census, but have been unable to locate the website lately. Perhaps someone reading this could provide the website. Evelyn Flood Rkinfolks@aol.com

    2. Some descendants of my KING family, originally from Colbert and Franklin Counties in Alabama, went to live in (Parthenon) Newton County, Arkansas from Baxter County area (to which they migrated in about 1875) --- so I subscribed to this List in hopes I would find some of their descendants. Hoping this explains my interest, as KINGs are difficult. I feel those in these census records are connected to ones you mentioned, but do not see connection to mine at this time. She married James Martin and, for some reason, they moved to Texas for a bit, had about 4 children, and then moved back to Western Grove around 1900. James Martin also died in 1901. The cause of both their deaths were due to a housefire. Their children lived with various relatives after that. I do not have any leads as to who Sarah's parents are but I know her maiden name was McGuire.

Ark. They had all moved from Alabama. I find Fountain King in the Newton co census of 1850 &1860. It says that he was deceased by 1870 and has ca by the name. Whether this means confederate army, circa, or what, I don't know. However, it does agree with family information. Fountain and Martha?Mary, had four children according to our records but there were probably five. The census lists a Joel C. and we have Andrew Jackson(ggrandfather), Robert Lee(married Lydia Jones), John(m.Lena?), Clyde(f.)and the census has Nancy A.(m. Lively Maples), Sweet King(m.Ben Ramsey), and Mattie, possibly Nattie, (mBen Carter). I haven't been able to track where the family moved to after Fountain's death but then I've just started. His son, A.J., must have moved to Searcy Co., at some point, because he married Martha Stephenson of that county and, as far as I've found, the Stephens! ons lived mainly in Searcy. Nancy Cheathams brother and half brother all lived in Newton Co. Judi
