I know that she is buried in the Mt. Judah cemetery, but I have never been able to find the burial place of my grandfather that died in the Civil War. Lucretia is my great-grandmother and I have no information of her family. I think she was raised by the Fluds or perhaps some of the Boatman children were.
Lou, Matilda Vina Lawson Smith King is buried in Union Hill Cemetery, Newton Co.AR. with no dates. Have not seen the grave and do not know if there are fieldstones or rocks marking the grave. Lewis King is buried there also with no dates. I show him being born Dec 1848 and death year as 1924. Matilda Vina Lawson first married William Smith in 1887 in Newton Co.AR. Do not know if he is the W B Smith buried in Union Hill Cemetery also. They had a daughter Dora B.Smith. Did Dora marry Omer L Manchester? There were several Dora Smiths in Newton Co.AR about the same age. I show Matilda Vina and Lewis King's children as (1)Thomas G KIng, b:Aug1892. He married several times, one marriage was to Belle O'Neal. Whatever happened to Tommy King? Did he move to Oklahoma? (2) Lissie Jane King, b:13June1900 who married Wesley Carter. She drowned with two of her children in Little Buffalo River on 22 May 1927. (3)Mary Mattie May King, b:18Feb1893. Married Walter Lee Baucom in 1915 in Newton Co.AR. (4)Pearl King, b:1905. Married (1)Roy Childers and (2)Wesley Carter. My husband was distantly related to the Carters and Smiths. Because my husband was related to so very many families in Newton County, I have done lots of research on the many families there. Evelyn Flood Rkinfolks@aol.com

So Goes A Family The intertwining of families are likened to a vine growing in all directions, twining around and through other vines, locking together; growing more roots; making new vines only to twine around and through other vines again locking together and making new roots. So goes a family. One road or pathway curves into another, branching off into forks in the road. Some take one road and some the other. The roads branch off again and again and each are taken anew. Ultimately many of the roads and pathways lead back to the same pathway. So goes a family. A river begins as a small trickle turning into a stream of flowing water. As it winds its way east or west, north or south, it grows larger and wider. It runs peacefully or wildly. The river moves slowly in places, turbulent in others. It branches off into other rivers and creeks until each winds its way back to the larger river and continues on. So goes a family. © Charlene L. Holland June 18, 2002
LISTING OF THE CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS 1911 CENSUS INDEX. There is a listing of 1,751 Confederate veterans who were residents of Arkansas in 1911. Information is arranged in alpha order by the name of veteran, and there is a separate index volume which lists over 30,000 "hidden" names -- maiden names, grandparents names, married daughters, and more. Forty-four of Arkansas' 75 counties participated in this census: Arkansas, Ashley, Benton, Boone, Bradley, Carroll, Chicot, Cleburne, Cleveland, Columbia, Conway, Crawford, Desha, Drew, Faulkner, Franklin, Fulton, Hempstead, Howard, Independence, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lee, Little River, Logan, Marion, Miller, Newton, Ouachita, Perry, Phillips, Pope, Prairie, Saline, Scott, Searcy, Sebastian, Sevier, Sharp, Union, Van Buren, Washington, White, and Yell Counties.
