    1. [ARNEWTON] Angus Ross/Catherine Brisco
    2. Teresa Hild
    3. Still trying to find some kind of definitive proof that Catherine Brisco, wife of Angus Ross, was the daughter of John Brisco and Nancy, who were living next door to Angus and Catherine in 1850 in Newton County. I have been told she is and I have been told she's not. There was also a Rebecca Brisco living in Newton County. John Briscow and family were living in Carroll County, Arkansas in 1840. According to the census records, there was three males under 5, one male 10 to 15; one male 30 to 40; one female under 5; two females 5 to 10; one female 30 to 40. With the other children of John Brisco figured in, only Catherine or Rebecca could have been in the household. I have been told this is Rebecca. The reason I believe that it could be Catherine is the fact that the Guy Ross family, with son Angus, was also living in Carroll County, Arkansas in 1840. Catherine would have been about 9 (being born December 1830) when Census was taken. Angus would have been about 14. Then in 1850, Angus and Catherine (Brisco) Ross are living in Newton County, Arkansas, next door to John and Nancy Brisco. On the other side of the Rosses were the Adairs, whose son married Rebecca Brisco. This is all so confusing!!! If anyone has any information on how I could go about getting the birth certificate, marriage license, or anything else on Catherine Brisco, I would appreciate the info. Thanks, Teresa Ross-Hild tdhild@earthlink.net Rootsweb list administrator for Hild, Bryen, Piepergerdes, Hinderks, Nothold, Ellerman, Heidbreder, and Wermke

    1. Re: [ARNEWTON] Isaac M. RICE - Laura (MANES) Rice
    2. Laura Manes Rice is not shown in any cemetery records for Newton Co.AR. On the 1900 Newton Co.AR. census in Richland Twp. were living: Ezekiel Rice, b:July1833, age 66, m:44yrs, b:KY Sophia (wife) b: Oct 1837, age 63, m:44 yrs 3 children with 2 living. She was born Ohio Numer, C. V. (grandson)b:July 1887,age 13, b: MO was living with family. Next door was: Rice, Cornelus, b: Sept 1876, age 23, m:1 YR, b:Kansas Daisey B (wife) b: Mar 1884, age 16, m:1 yr. b: AR The Rice family IS NOT on the 1910 Newton Co. AR. censu on Richland. I found no marriage for Laura Manes to any Mr. Rice. Checked Newton Co.Marriages from 1910 to 1927 and found no Isaac Rice. There were Manes families in Searcy Co.AR. Checked there on the 1870,1880 census records and found no Laura Manes listed. Checked the earliest marriage records there and found no marriage for Laura Manes. Are you familiar with Soundex microfilm records? If you are not certain as to whereabouts your Rice families lived, try the 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920 Rice Soundex Microfilm which you will not find on the Internet. Most States had Soundex microfilms for those mentioned years. Go to any good public archival library or use the LDS Family History Library near you. The librarians can help you order the correct Soundex film. Also, it is possible to obtain Surname Index Books for Arkansas for 1880 which is another source for Manes and Rice. Missouri probably has Surname Index Books also for 1880 and other census years. Evelyn Flood Rkinfolks@aol.com

    3. Hi Cody. Were any of your Nichols in Lauderdale CO, TN? When my Ballenger/Ballinger/McKinley/Childress group were in Lauderdale CO, Jacob Nichols (?Nicholass - spelled both ways) married (?Malinda) Ballinger; this was on 7 Aug 1845. Before 1880 this Ballinger family was in Boone and Newton CO in AR. They married into the Clayborn, Bethel, and Arnold families (prob. more). Let me know if you need more info. or if it could possibly be yours. The name Tinsley is used in the Ballinger family. 1. Re: [ARNEWTON] Re: Flud relatives
    2. Sorry, but you have incorrect information on many of the names. Have researched the Flood\Flud, Cooper,Boatman, etc. families thoroughly. This is what happens when people send information back and forth without carefully comparing to census records, marriage records and Civil War Pension records. Cressie Cooper born 1838 in Missouri married William Boatman in 1855. William Boatman died 1862 in Civil War. Cressie married (2)Andrew Davis in 1868 in Newton Co.AR. She died 22 June 1869 and is buried in Smith Cemetery in Newton Co.AR. Her father IS NOT William Cooper. Her mother was Edia Lewis. You also left off some Cooper children. Have Civil War Pension records to compare. Find that Civil War Pension records are the BEST source of accurate information. The Cooper information in "Ozark Cousins"is incorrect. You have the two Cressie Coopers mixed up here. Lucretia "Cressie"Cooper, born 1846 (daug. of Isaac Cooper)married (1)James Hampton and (2) William H Houston. She died in 1904 and is buried in Lone Hill Cem. Newton Co.AR. Evelyn Flood Rkinfolks@aol.com
