    1. [ARNEWTON] Access to Arkansas Prison Records
    2. P. J. Weatherspoon
    3. Hi Cousins: Since I have an elusive one--and family tradition suggests its a possibility that he might have been a bit of an outlaw--I need to access Prison Records for Arkansas State Prison between 1895 and 1915. By 1915, the individual I'm seeking moved to Newton County, AR and married there. Could someone guide me how I might access these records. Thanks a million. Peggy in California

    1. [ARNEWTON] 1870 Newton Co. Census Lookup
    2. Debra Blackard
    3. I would be most appreciative for a lookup in the 1870 Newton Co. Census if someone has that readily available. I am seeking a Thomas J. E. B. Daniel/s who should be approximately nine years of age. There are several DANIEL families enumerated in Jefferson Twp., Newton Co, p. 162, and one in Pleasant Hill Twp., p. 178. I would be very grateful if someone could check to see if there is a Thomas of the right age in any of those families. Debra Blackard blackard@cswnet.com

    1. Re: [ARNEWTON] Help for Evelyn and Dale
    2. This is Dale, I figured out how to open the Harp file. If you have win zip on your computer it's fairly easy. Just open win zip and use that to open the file....it's converted. If you don't have it, it's a wonderful thing to have. Those on AOL can get it by going to keyword Mime....it will explain there how to get this program. Hopes this helps anyone who has gotten files that are scambled with the mime system. Thanks

    1. [ARNEWTON] Re: Inflation Calculator
    2. I received this from another list today and thought that it might be of interest to you. Marilyn From: EVERTON'S FAMILY HISTORY NEWSLINE Thursday, 13 January 2000 What Was It Worth? You're reading a deed and you'd like to know how much the sale price in 1859 dollars stacks up in current U.S. currency. Or maybe it's a will and you want to know just how valuable your own direct ancestor's piece of the inheritance would be if it were paid in U.S. currency at the end of the twentieth century. You could guess, of course, but there's got to be a simpler way to find out, isn't there? One way to find out is to use the Inflation Calculator posted to the Web by Morgan Friedman. The Inflation Calculator covers values from 1800 to 1998. Just type in the amount you know (either the current value or the "historical" one), and the Calculator gives you both valuations. Very handy, and very quick. But there's more. Mr. Friedman has also posted calculators for Italy and Canada, and links to exchange rates for Britain. Not to mention a link to the addictively fascinating Statistical Abstract of the United States. If you've ever wondered how much an 1859 dollar would be in 1998 terms ($18.40), or any other amount, this handy reference page can be a welcome addition to your list of Bookmarks or Favorites. 1. [ARNEWTON] Hill
    2. Glenda Ramsey
    3. Carri Here is all I know about Margarett E. Ramsey-Hill She was with her parents on the 1850 and 1860 Izard County census. Then just dropped off the face of the earth, it seems. In about 1960, my husband's eldest brother, Nelson, told me that Harrison Hill was a double cousin, but did not say to whom. When I bought a computer [10 years ago] and started putting my families together, Nelson had died, so I started asking other older family members about Harrison Hill. None of them had heard of him, so I thought maybe I had dreamed up the name. A few years later I found a lady who had the Ramsey bible. In it was listed Margarett E.Ramsey's birthdate, a deathdate for Margaret E. Hill and the birthdates of John Harrison and Samuel Franklin Hill. Also, in my mother-in-laws pictures, I found a picture of Harrison Hill and his wife, Ruthie. I believe all this is proof enough of who she was. There is a Harrison Hill on the 1890 tax list of Izard County. Margaret is my brick wall. Thanks, Glenda
