Another Armstrong-related book I found in England is titled,"Settle to Carlisle -a Pictoral Guide to the Most Dramatic Train Journey in England". Of course,Carlisle is in the Borders Region which is rich with Armstrong history.Mentioned is the fact that as late as 1600,Scotby(station)was the victim of one of the cross-border raids that had been going on for centuries under the joint command of the Border reiver Kinmont Willie,a 140-strong band of outlaws known as Sandy's Bairns burnt and pillaged ,taking prisoners and a hundred head of cattle.Now,almost a suburb of Carlisle,Scotby has a church of 1854 built by Anthony Salvin.(Sandy's Bairns refers to those born to Sandy Armstrong.)
