Here's my line once again.... William Armstrong Sr. was born around 1720 somewhere in Ireland and married Jane Irwin on 15 Feb. 1747 in Killeshandra, Church of Ireland. He died about 1808, but his will was not proved until January of 1810 by his widow, who was his second wife, Mary. She was evidently a lot younger than he was and had since remarried to a Mr. Flin(n). William and Jane Armstrong had children: 1. Elizabeth prob. bp. 3 Feb. or 27 Aug. 1749 - md. Mr. Keirnan or Kiernan in Ireland 2. William ("Billie the Beau") prob. bp. 26 Sep. 1751, md. 1) a Miss Broughton and 2) -?-, died 9 Apr. 1830 at Leamington, Co. James - an illegitimate child - possibly bp. 11 Apr. 1744 of 29 Oct. 1767? - a merchant - married and had several children, went to Demerara, British Guiana, got ship-wrecked and his wife and children died there William and his second wife, Mary, had the following: 1. Sarah prob. born ca. 1790-1800 - alive and underage in 1801 I am descended from Thomas through Dr. William Armstrong through his son, William R.T. Armstrong, who went first to St. Croix and then to Wisconsin. His twin brother, Thomas John Armstrong, remained in St. Croix and had three unions with black women, leaving numerous children. William (born ca. 1720) probably descends from the Armstrongs of County Leitrim. However, this area is so close to County Fermanagh, that he could also be descended from those Armstrongs. Other names connected to the William A* family in Ireland are Richard Conoly/Connelly and Matthew Johnston of Ballinamore, Leonard Park Jr. of Lahana, William Brown, and the Armstrongs and Biggs of St. Croix in the West Indies but originally of Ireland. Names associated with the family in St. Croix 1740-1800 but possibly from Ireland are: Thomas Lake, Andrew Irwin, John Ryan, William Manning, John Johnson, and Captain Lorentz Nissen. I would like to correspond with anyone who has information on this family or the family of Robert Armstrong of Longfield, County Leitrim, who may be connected somehow. And I would like to correspond with anyone descending from the several Armstrongs of Santa Cruz, California, who are descended from my family. I'm also still looking for anyone who is descended from John Armstrong (the youngest son of William and Jane of Co. Cavan) and his two wives, Isabella Wilson and Henrietta Wilson who came from Cherry Valley, Antrim, Ireland to Chicago ca. 1844-55. They supposedly had land at Arcola, Illinois and in Chicago).
