Armstrong The poll being finally closed at 12, the returning officers announced by their books the numbers to be For the Hon. Major Vereker.................................412 For John Tuthill Esq..............................................268 Majority.........................................................144 When the Sheriff declared the Hon. John Prendergast Vereker to be duly elected the Representative in Parliament for this City. Immediately after the court was dissolved, the Hon. Major Vereker, attended by a vast concourse of respectable friends, was chaired to his father's house at the Crescent; the chair was superbly decorated; the excellent band of the City Limerick Regt. attended and performed some delightful airs. Mr. Tuthill's chairing commenced in Francis-street, he was seated in a very elegant car, most tastefully ornamented; the procession preceded by the trades with their several ensigns and banners, and followed by gentlemen with white wands and laurels, occupied a very great extent. Notwithstanding the streets were so crowded, we are happy to learn that not an accident of any description occurred.
