Hi, My Armstrongs originated in Co. Antrim, No. Ireland, specifically in the area of Ballymena. There are a lot of Armstrongs from that area. My earliest A. is Archibald, b. circa 1774, m. Rachel McClurkan circa 1794. They had a bunch of children including Hugh (no, JohnD. says he's not HIS Hugh) b. 1795, Samuel, my ancestor, b. 1797, and Thomas, b. 1805 (no, John D. says he's not his Thomas, either!). Samuel m. Jane Reid in 1827. They both died in Co. Antrim. I have about given up finding out more about these folks. Samuel and Jane had my ggrandfather, James, b. 1840, who married Anna B. McCoy in Belfast. Not sure of the wedding date, probably late 1850s. Now....having more or less exhausted finding more about these people, I would like to concentrate on my grandfather's generation of silblings and hope to find USA connections to these Armstrongs. Here they are.....do any of these sound familiar? I am always looking for "cousins." Children of James and Anna B. Armstrong who came to the USA in 1868: Eliza Jane b. around 1860, Ireland William, b. March 1865, Ireland (my grandfather, m. Rebecca Milligan in Boston. William was a cooper.) James b. 1868, MA, USA John b. abt. 1872, MA, USA Francis H. b. abt. 1875, MA, USA Annabell b. abt. 1877, MA, USA George H. b. 1879, MA, USA George H. Armstrong my have married "Esther" and had daughters, Violet and Marie. I would love to find anybody connected to the people listed above. I don't know if these people stayed in MA and I don't know what happened to any of my grandfather's brothers and sisters! The name is common in this area and none of the first names are that unusual. The girls probably married, so their names would have changed. At first I thought "Eliza Jane" was an unusual name, but when I started searching I found that not to be true. If any of the above people sound familiar, please let me know!
