Hi me again, Just for a matter of interest. We never know where our alusive family may be lurking. such as another country. Heaps of family members, maybe unknown to us, but a very important part of our Family History each year migrant or immigrate to another country. I actually found out years ago about my third cousin who had come to mainland Asutralia with her husband and two sons from England. Many family members find there way over here. For instance, a few days ago, an American Man with my brothers surname of PLACE phoned him after Freds surname appeared in the phone book after his move from Victoria. There had not previously in the previous phonebook been any one with that name. This chap had been living in Australia for 15 years and after holidaying in Tasmania, sold his boat he had built and bought a house with the money in Bridport not far from where my brother lives in Launceston Northeast Tasmania, we are in the Northwest. He phoned Fred as he also had been intereste! d in Family History and had traced his family back to the first Pilgrim Families and wanted to see where Freds family came in. Fred told him I was interested, but I have so far been too busy to get on the line for a nice lengthy chat, like we Genealogist need. Coming up soon though. the fellow would be very informative of his family as he is 82 years old. He was an Engineer. Comes from Massechusetts, with New Hampshire ties as well. He has been married for 52 years and has two daughters, one who just so happens lives in the same vacinity as me in Burnie. Haven't had any contact as yet, knowing me I will get around to it. So it is indeed a small world. My overall point being, look across the seas, if you cannot find your alusive family member, who you think may have a bit of information as they may have gone elsewhere. I guess you could try looking at the immigration records your end to see if there are any Armstrongs amongst the folk leaving the country. It would most likely say where they were going to. By ship or plane, who knows even by cargo boat. I know we can hitch a ride in a cabin if you have a family member working for a shipping company. I do and Rob and I have in fact been across to the mainland on a cargo vessel. Edie
