HI Barbara, 404 houses in Canberra were lost and four people killed. Many horses were put down out of there misery and the native birds were lying on the ground dead. Dogs and cats etc who were not lucky enough to have family home to save them. It is so sad. then now Victoria also has bushfires with houses threatened and down in the South of Tasmania also. We have also had bushfires up near Strahan village, so there is more to come. February is our hottest month, so I hope there is some rain relief as everything is so dry. We are safe for now and we have lived in this area for 18 years and I have never known a bushfire here where we live on a 21 acre hobby farm surrounded by other farms and plenty of dry vegetation. We have regular updates of the fire. We have just had on the news that an American man has been shot dead in Kuwait, hasn't named him.
