My parents will celebrate their 56 th year together the 8th of March. They met while they were stationed at El Paso Texas. Mother was a Wac and Dad was In the Army also. We tease them about their lengthy courtship. 7 days I was born the following December 16th. They had their ups and downs but are very devoted to one another. Pat Tatom
Pat, Your folks evidently hold the record (to date)... My great grandparents met in Chicago in Nov 1855 and were married 6 weeks later in December 1855 the marriage lasted 11 kids and 54 1/2 years... I'm sure there were ups and downs... after all Gr Grandad was an Armstrong and Gr Grandma Kate was a Miller - both with roots on the Scottish borders.. I think folks back then knuckled down and worked a lot harder at making a go of it than young people do today.. Myself I've had the same Wife for the last 39 yrs... She was a Navy Nurse when I met and married her, and has done an admirable job keeping both my ego and broken body patched up..and in one piece...
