Cynthia Smith was born in October of 1902. The daughter of John Smith and Lula Dial. Cynthia met Leroy Armstrong at a church social in 1919. The young couple soon fell in love, however Cynthia's step father forbid them to marry as she had younger brothers and sisters to care for as her Mom had died in 1915. On a cold January day ,Leroy's father Arch waited under the hill for Mr Brown to leave for work at the local sawmill After he had left for work Arch took Leroy and Cynthia to get married. This young couple loved each other very much. They went to church and farmed their small farm. In 1921 they lost thier daughter Katherine at three days of age, Another son and daughter followed before my fathers birth in 1927. After my fathers birth . Cynthia became very ill with T B of the bone. As well as farm Leroy carried Cynthia where she wish to go and raised his three small chidren. As he farmed Cynthia would watch from a rocker on the porch reading from her Bible to her children. After the children were put to bed Leroy would sit there in the rocker with Cynthia in his arms often sleeping there all night. In the fall of 1931 Cynthia died . Yes there in his arms where she had spent so much time. Leroy went on to marry again to the woman that Cynthia chose to help raise her children. With her he had 6 more children. He died in 1974 and is buried next to his beloved Cynthia. In that cemetery they are surrounded by his parents,grand parents and greatgrandparents. Pat Tatom
