Hi All I received the following message, and thought someone out there might be able to help Narelle. Please reply to Narelle - her address is at the bottom of the message All the best Kathy Message reads: I am searching for my GG grandfather John ARMSTRONG (b. 1837). I have recently found information that states that John ARMSTRONG (b. 1837) - miner, came to South Australia onboard the "Chatham" from Plymouth arriving in South Australia in 1852. It also infers that the whole family was born in Durham UK. He travelled with: his Father Samuel ARMSTRONG (b. 1813 ? Durham) occupation - miner his mother Ann UNKNOWN (b. 1813) his sister's Isabella (b. 1834) Jane (b. 1844) Ann (b.1846) and Eleanor (b. 1848) >From previous research I know that John was born in 1837 and that his father was a Samuel. The other information is all new to me. I have been trying to find out whether he was born in Australia or whether he came to Australia from the UK at some time. Do you have any information that matches up with mine? Please contact me and let me know one way or another. If this is not the correct John I will have to go back to the drawing board. Looking forward to your reply. Regards Narelle Catling narelle62@iinet.net.au
