My favorite rhubarb pie recipe is a single crust with a crunch topping a lot like that on Dutch apple. A couple of our bakery/restaurants have rhubarb pies during "season" but I haven't figured out where they go to find "seasons." We have berries from Chile in the winter at the markets, but can't remember seeing fresh rhubarb. It is usually available in the freezer. I have 3 - 4 tomato plants which grow out of my compost every year and provide enough tomatoes until Thanksgiving or Christmas - whenever our first chilly weather arrives - to annoy everyone I know. Anyone who makes the mistake of coming by during the season is forced to take a bag home with them. I also have 4 dwarf citrus trees - lemon, orange, grapefruit and tangerine which overwhelm us with citrus, but no rhubarb - which I love. Too bad I can't ship someone citrus in exchange for some fresh rhubarb. A few years back when I had kids at BYU I did ship a few boxes of citrus to them. Pretty costly.
