Marilyn Actually I believe not only the Scots-Irish but the majority of the settlers drank a lot of beer and rum up until the British put up a Blockade on Boston... so nothing was coming in from the Caribbean, and with Yankee ingenuity, farmers learned it was cheaper to ship their "corn" to market in liquid form than dry form..!! and thus... Bourbon replaced Rum as a favorite liquid refreshment... You didn't get your invite to the party yet??? I dropped it in the mail about 2 weeks ago... the dog team hauling the mail must have gotten hung up some where...!!
