Author: sleuthesthedead Surnames: Armstrong Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.armstrong/5013/mb.ashx Message Board Post: While looking through an interlibrary loan book "The Christian Record", edited and published by James M Mathes, Bloomington, Indiana, I came across an obituary for Hawes Armstrong published in Vol 1 No. VL The Christian Record Bloomington, Ind., December, 1843 (p. 142 of James M Mathes' book): Obituary Died at his residence, in Fayetteville, Lawrence county, Indiana, on the 12th of January our much esteemed brother, HAWES ARMSTRONG. He died of Consumption. He has been much afflicted for some years past, and his last illness was very distressing-he bore it however, with Christian fortitude. He has for many years been a member of the Christian Church, and now he sleeps in Jesus. He has left an interesting family, and a beloved companion, to mourn their loss. - "But we sorrow not as those who have no hope."-Paul. J.M.M.
