She grew up in Northwestern Illinois. she received her Bachelor's degree at the University of Minnesota. she completed her Juris Doctor, cum laude, at the University of Minnesota Law School in 1988. She is survived by her husband Dean Osmar; Mother, JOanne; Sisters, Meg and Jenny; Stepfather, Don; and nephew and nieces.
