Dear Bob, I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I want to share a story I read with you. It was an article in the newspaper about a man who had met a lovely lady when he was stationed in Germany during WWII. He fell madly in love. After the war they were married and move to California and raised a family. The woman was vivacious, funny and smart. In her 70's the wife developed Alzheimer's and the husband (who had his own health problems) struggled to care for her himself. His family and friends said, "What's the difference if you put her in a home? She doesn't even know you!" The man's reply brought tears to my eyes. He said "it doesn't matter if she knows me, I know HER". You are who you are, and your family and friends will continue to love you even as this horrid disease robs you.
