Hated the English. King put out execution permission to kill them on the spot. They were border raiders on the English border. Fled to Ireland and the new world. My ancesters came through Pa. to Virginia, to Tennessee, to Jackson County Al. William Armstrong a surveyer. Owned 5000 acres of land on Monteagle Mountain. His son Martin came to Jackson county in 1850's. He was a school teacher. His baby brother also lived in the Scottsboro, Al. area. That's all I know. Armstrong name was awarded to a soldier who rode back onto the battle field when the King of Scottland fell from his horse during a retreat from the oncoming English army. H scooped the king up, who had a full body of armor , with one arm and rode him to safety. For that his name was changed from a Norweigian name to Armstrong. The Armstrong bloodline begin in Norway. I hope this was of interest to you. Ron Griffin Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
