My g-grandmother was Jane ARMSTRONG born in Edinburgh in 1827, (3rd. child in the family - the others were David 1822/3; Susan 1825; James and Elizabeth 1831; William 1833; Alexander Knox 1835; Katherine abt. 1840) who became a school teacher. Her parents were William ARMSTRONG and Jane Brown. William was a cabinet maker in Edinburgh, and as far as I can tell, he was born in Chirnside, Berwickshire on 6 July 1793, but so far, I have not definite proof. If this is the correct William, his parents were George ARMSTRONG and Elizabeth Knox, and the previous generation was Alexander ARMSTRONG and Jean Darling.
