I have a Eva Armstrong in my lineage and need to know if you have connection to Eva. The Eva I am connected to was born in 1898 in Virginia and married Herbert Armstrong. I find her in the 1920 census but not any more. I thought this could be her. I am not able to read the marker and thought you might have seen the stone and read it then. 3. He also wrote a wonderful series of spoof histories chronicling the life and times of Sir Harry Flashman, VC etc. etc. the school bully from "Tom Brown's Schooldays". The fictional Flashman of MacDonald Fraser's books was at the heart of of almost every episode of significance in Victorian history and was covered in undeserved glory. Historically, the books are very accurate and give a colourful desription of events

Welcome to the family Cindy!! :D It's always nice to have new members, especially when they've been lurking and we've lured them out! ;D I don't have any Armstrongs from NY, mine are all Aussies like me, but I do have some Willeys (yes, it IS a name, not just something they give everyone! lol) up there somewhere. Sadly they're related to a cousin of mine who went down on the Titanic! :( It certainly made my tree more interesting than just convicts! lol So I DO have some American rellies out there somewhere, I just have to find the elusive bunch! ;D My Armstrong connection is a legal one ... I was adopted by an Armstrong descendant. Marilynn's offered to adopt me again so I have even better ties, but I'm not sure she'd be happy about that or regret it later! lol She's more of a Mum to me than my own mothers (bio and legal), she doesn't need to adopt me, she's "got me" for life now anyway! ;D Take care, Robyn. 2. Hello everyone... I have never written to this list before, just kind of "lurked" in the background and enjoyed the postings. My grandmother was an Armstrong and these recent postings have made me so proud to be related to this clan! The Armstrongs in my family have never been reluctant to express their opinions...must be a family attribute! I also live in New Hampshire and am waiting for the "circus" that is the NH primary to end. It's all very exciting...but I think it's enough for now. I will continue to read and enjoy everyone's postings...haven't found anyone on the list that's related to me...but I'll keep an eye out. My grandmother's family came from Mooer's Forks, NY (a wide spot in the road within walking distance of Canada). If this is familiar to anyone, please let me know!
