    3. To all Armstrong cousins, It is with a heavy heart that I recevied this notice of the passing of Clemi. I remember her well when I first joined this sight and have always enjoyed her comments and contributions. I believe that she embodied the true Armstrong spirit. May she rest in peace. 3. Bummer for sure. Clemi was one of my first online contacts. We've been corresponding since back in the days of FidoNet. I never got to meet her though. I threatened several times but never made it to west Texas. While searching for her obit in the Amarillo paper, I see that her mother-in-law passed away on January 29. 1. [ARMSTRONG] "Abstracts of Rev. War Pension Files" --need help with dates
    2. JAK
    3. Hi, Thanks to the generousity of Clemi Blackburn, I have finally found something concrete about my Armstrongs ancestors in the Revolutionary War. This is from one of her posts: "Adam, S44554, NY Line, Appl Apr 16, 1818 Oneida Cty., NY, in 1821 sol was in Herkimer Cty, NY aged 50 & wife was dec'd & he had 3 children, Sol. s. 27 Aug 1843 leaving children: Elizabeth wife of Moses Seger of Lewis Cty, NY; Polly wife of Graylord Griffin of Herkimer Cty, NY Archibald Armstrong of Oneida Cty, NY "Abstracts of Rev. War Pension Files" pg 74 I 'get' most of it...I'm assuming S44554 is his reference# or something similar. Appl=Applied? sol=Soldier? What does s. mean...he's not 'single' Most important to me though is understanding what the 3 different dates signify. 16 Apr 1818; 27 Aug 1843; & the year 1821. I would appreciate any help in deciphering this. Thank you----And a HUGE thanks to Clemi! Judy

He is my Great Grandfather. I have searched records and can not find any information about his childhood. I know his father was born in NY and his mother is Mary Unkown b. Jul 1847 in England. Immigrating to the US in 1851. The 1920 census is the last one I find Mary in. William Harley had 2 brothers: Edward C. & John S (wife Adelia C. ultimately they lived in OH, no children) & a sister Elizabeth Allen. Much of the family lived in the Wyndotte/Detroit area of MI. William Harley Armstrong married Bessie Spicer (she had a twin sister Bertha) and they had 6 children: Jack S.
