    1. [ARMSTRONG-L] Vote Denise Bode
    2. AUGUST 26, 2002 TOMORROW IS THE BIG DAY – DON’T FORGET TO VOTE!!! A MESSAGE TO FRIENDS FROM DENISE BODE… After thousands of miles in the car, hundreds of hours on the phone, and countless public appearances before Republican activists, Election Day is finally here! I feel so honored to have earned your support and your trust. Your help, along with that of Senator Nickles, former Congressman Tom Coburn, Mayors Kirk Humphreys and Bill LaFortune and thousands of other good Republicans, has been so gratifying. Because of your help, we’re looking forward to a great win on Tuesday evening! BUT WE CAN’T WIN IF YOU, YOUR FAMILY, AND YOUR FRIENDS FORGET TO VOTE! So, please pass this reminder on to everyone you know. We’re excited about taking Drew Edmondson on in the general election and we can’t wait to talk about bringing Oklahoma values back to the Attorney General ’s office. Republicans have responded to that message, and we believe all right-thinking Oklahomans – Republicans and Democrats alike – will agree. AS YOUR ATTORNEY GENERAL, I WILL NOT… …defend the likes of Al Gore and involve the state of Oklahoma in the vote counting processes in Florida or any other state, AS DID YOUR CURRENT ATTORNEY GENERAL; …file suit against such honored organizations as the Boy Scouts of America, AS DID YOUR CURRENT ATTORNEY GENERAL; or …line the pockets of political buddies in the law profession with billions of dollars in tobacco settlements, AS DID YOUR CURRENT ATTORNEY GENERAL! AS YOUR ATTORNEY GENERAL, I WILL… …be the consumer advocate you and your family deserve in the AG’s office. I will continue the consumer advocacy I have proven as your Corporation Commissioner. …provide local law enforcement with the investigative support they need to crack down on criminals. Under our current Attorney General, Oklahoma has become the number two state in Meth Labs. That’s not the kind of growth we seek for our state. Again, thank you for your help. Please pass this message on to your entire e-mail address book. With your help, we will start the general election with great momentum toward November. John, Sean and I ask for your prayers and your help as we move toward victory in November. - Denise Bode

My husband's mother was Lily Mae Armstrong, dau of Moses Lee Armstrong (m.Julia Edna Ware), son of Owen Worth Armstrong (m. Nancy Franklin), son of Jesse Taylor Armstrong (m. Minerva Ladd); son of William H. Armstrong (m. Sabrina Taylor), apparently the son of Plunket Armstrong (m. Margaret). Do these names match yours? Do you have any ancestors before Plunket? I am curious about this family's country of origin. I am trying to verify the other members of this family with information I have from a copy of part of an Armstrong docment that my husband's mother had (maybe a family bible) and from a few pages I have from a book entitled History of Texas (pps 638-639). Any information you can share about these ancestors, and particularly about Moses Lee Armstrong and Julia Edna Ware would be greatly appreciated. My email address is dbasile46@hotmail.com. Thanks so much.

    1. [ARMSTRONG-L] Non-gen story
    2. Subject: 911 System George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi was going up to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things. He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" and he said no. Then they said that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be along when available. George said "Okay," hung up, counted to 30, and phoned the police again. "Hello. I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people in my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now cause I've just shot them all." Then he hung up. Within five minutes three police cars, an Armed Response unit, and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips residence. Of course, the police caught the burglars red-handed. One of the policemen said to George: "I thought you said that you'd shot them!" George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!" (True Story)
