I found his name in the 1880 census for Lawrence county, IL. I have other relatives in this county and am trying to figure if he was related. It shows that he was born in 1832 in TN. His wife is listed as Eliza from Indiana. Let me know what else you have found. I also have Armstrongs in TN but cannot place him with them yet.

    1. [ARMSTRONG-L] ARMSTRONGs of Dumfries
    2. Am trying to make contact with listers who are researching Andrew ARMSTRONG of Dumfries and his descendents. I have Agnes ARMSTRONG in the family tree. She was born in 1815 in Dumfries and from information I have gleaned from some websites it appears that Andrew was her father. Bill in the States very kindly sent his connection and then I found the same information, with more detail, on a website owned by Brian Rowe of New Zealand. On genforum for Armstrongs I found a message which connected again, from 'Glenis' and from 'Lee' . All seem to be talking about the same family and I just don't seem to be able to contact any of them other than Bill. If anyone has any advice on how I can go forward or knows about these ARMSTRONGs of Dumfries at this time, I would be most grateful. Regards, Margaret Parfitt, Aberdeen, Scotland

    2. Well all my cousins. I have gotten a job back in the Parts Department in the Garage at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. I was there for 5/years in 1985-1990. Mammoth had to lay off 2/3rds of it's permanent personal in 1990. So anyway I guess they are tired of me pestering them and they called Friday asking If I want to come to work. "YOU BET" I told them. Bill is working now Slope Maintenance "Key Seasonal Personal" Dan is working at the Canyon Lodge Now I am back to work also. We will still run the campground in the summer. I will be in the background then, listening to all. NOW:: My G-Grandmother Lillie Mae Armstrong, daughter of: Wallace W. Armstrong, and Julia E. Lobdell married twice: Garmet J. Cochran, and Frank Jackson Smith. I am wondering if anyone happens to be researching the family of Frank Jackson Smith, and Lillie Mae Armstrong-Cochran Nan Curtis Bishop, CA Armstrong, Brunner, Campbell, Carley, Chevalier, Clark, Clay/Klee, Cochran, Curtis, Dawes, De Remer Durbin, Foote, Gardner, Garretson, Gibson, Griffin, Hare/Hair, Hays, Kantner, Kitch, Lancaster, Langlois, Laughlin, LeBrun, Leduc, MacDonald, Mann, Morgan, Redding, Rice, Valier/Vallier.

    1. [ARMSTRONG-L] James Armstrong - Ontario in 1800s
    2. Family Ratzinger
    3. While attempting to track down the maiden name of my 3rd great grandmother Mary, I discovered that she had been married previously to a man named James Armstrong, and that they had a child, Albert. According to the 1880 and 1901 Census, Mary Ann born 31 Jan 1828 in England. I do not know when she came to Canada, or if she and James were perhaps previously married prior to the immigration. I have found an article that states that James Armstrong and Mary Ann Armstrong had a child named Albert Armstrong. Albert was born 19 Sep 1842 and was Christened in Smith's Falls, Lanark, Ontario, Canada, on 28 Oct 1842. A later article states that Mary Armstrong, wife of the late James Armstrong of Bytown, married James Sired (my 3-G Grandfather) on 24 Jan 1856, in Prince Albert, Reach Township, Durham County, Ontario, Canada. Now research on Bytown has provided: Established 1826 by Lt-Col John By; Became a town in 1847, then again in 1850; Renamed Ottawa in 1855. On the 1901 census, Mary (73 yrs) is living in Burnt River, Sommerville, Victoria North, Ontario, with her grand daughter Margrett (sp?) Who was born 21 Jan 1891 (10 yrs). No other family was recorded. What happened to Albert and wife? While these Armstrongs are not a direct relation to my family line, I am very interested in finding any information that I can! Hopefully I can track down the maiden name of my 3rd g-grama. If any of this information looks familiar, or if anyone has any further info, I would be greatly appreciative!
