Well, with all the excitement over Pam making a breakthrough I'm hoping this is a Good Omen!!! Here's mine: ROBERT ARMSTRONG, June 1849, Ireland (family says Scotland, but in 1900 census he said Ireland) d. after 1920, Madison, Dane Co., Wisconsin., md 31 Dec 1875, Glascow, Scotland, BELLA S. DONNELL (know nothing about her) Came to Harvey, Illinois in 1887, went back to Glascow in 1888 and brought his family over. He was said to be son of JAMES ARMSTRONG & ELIZABETH MCBYRNE. ROBERT & BELLA were parents of MARGARET, NELLIE, ROBERT, FRANK, ELIZABETH & JAMES C. I would love to hear from anyone who wants to swap data.....Most of these folks ended up in Madison, Wisconsin....does any of this ring a bell with anyone?? thanks Jan Parsons Armstrong El Paso, Texas JArmstr904@aol.com http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~janarmstrong
Congratulations, Pam! I think all of us can relive your excitement from our own family research experiences. After breaking through a THICK brick wall to identify my mother's birth parents, Fred and Emma ARMSTRONG, of Phoenix, AZ, I joined this Armstrong List and was infinitely rewarded when Bill ARMSTRONG of Kingman, AZ, posted his ARMSTRONG minidescendency chart. By then, I had identified enough ancestor names to recognize my relatives among Bill's posted ARMSTRONG names, so I contacted him. Bill and I are third cousins, once removed, as it turns out; and my husband and I were able to meet Bill for breakfast in Kingman a year-and-a-half ago. Bill has generously shared his research on my ARMSTRONGs ancestors with me, a generosity, I note from his postings to the List, that he extends to others as well. It's a great family! Pam, continue to enjoy the glow of your connect with your past! Sue Mullins Northridge CA Susiesearcher@worldnet.att.net ARMSTRONG, SAUP, BOSE, WEHMEYER, HOLLMANN, ARTER, EVERTS, HARRELL P.S. Hi All I just wanted to share with someone my happy news! I just had a big breakthrough with my Armstrongs! I was getting NOWHERE with them - I knew back to my great great grandparents - knew their names - didn't even know her maiden name - no dates - very few of their children and no dates or spouses for them. Then out of the blue I got a copy of a list sent by my grandmother years ago to her second husband's children - mixed in with pictures of their family - the list contained all the births, marriages, and death dates for my Great great grandparents and all their children! hip hip hurray! A breakthru on my Armstrongs!! Now maybe I can actually start getting somewhere with this family!
