Hello A*s ... I've found an interesting web site in New Zealand concerning scams: http://www.consumer-ministry.govt.nz/scams/scamwatch_prize_and_lottery.h tml http://www.consumer-ministry.govt.nz/scams/scamwatch_prize_and_lottery_l ist.html The first URL explains the scams listed at the second URL. I've received e-mails concerning some of the 'unbelievable offers' mentioned. I delete and bounce these through MailWasher before they ever enter my computer. Sadly, I know a few people who've ignored the adage, "if it seems too good to be true ..." You might want to check it out. Have a good week, clemi

They immigrated to the US from Antrim Co., Ireland in 1865. Their children were: William Clarke, who I understand remained in Ireland; Sophia, who settled in NY; Georgina who married Arthur J. Murry, who was born in NY; and Alice Elizabeth, who was born in Albany, NY in 1876. Alice went to nursing school in Providence, RI, and in 1900 was boarding there in Providence; her mother, Jane, was living with her daughter, Georgina, and son-in-law, A.J. Murry in Washington Co., Narragansett District, R.I. Alice Clarke married Arthur Curtis Scott, and later moved to Texas. Hi everyone, just wanted to tell you of the Bush Fires here in Australia, in particular the bushfires in our Capital territory which is Canberra, known as the ACT. 388 houses have been totally destroyed, but fortunately at this stage, there are only 2 deaths. Those two deaths are devastating to the families who have lost their loved ones, but overall it is a miracle there haven't been more with that many houses destroyed. We have bushfire alerts all over with our hot summer and little rain, so lots of fuel for bushfires. Trouble is they are often lit by mindless people. Take Care Edie

Church Gossip Sarah, the church gossip and self-appointed supervisor of the church's morals, kept sticking her nose into other people's business. Several residents were unappreciative of her activities but feared her enough to maintain their silence. Sarah made a mistake, however, when she accused George, a new member, of being an alcoholic after she saw his pickup truck parked in front of the town's only bar one afternoon. Sarah commented to George and others that everyone seeing it there would know that he was an alcoholic George, a man of few words, stared at her for a moment and just walked away saying nothing. Later that evening, George quietly parked his pickup truck in front of Sarah's house and left it there all night.

Could be that this person is trying to get some individual addresses for some advertising campaign Pat. He asks that you respond to his message. He has found a list address and sent out the message to the list as a whole but by responsing individually he sent s up an address list to send adverts of what ever he is selling. this is just a theory but that is the vibes I was getting as I have never heard of this person on the list. Another theory is he may have by mistake put the wrong address in. John, I've also gotten this letter twice: tonight, and about two or three weeks ago. I haven't answered it, and don't think I will. As long as I'm writing you, and as long as this is such a super list, I guess I'll tell you all that my sister, Janet, my only sibling, died last Thursday, about an hour or so before I got there (she lived in Maine). My niece had called me the day before, and I tried my very best to get there before she died, but I didn't make it in time. She never regained conscienceness after the stroke, so I guess it didn't matter to her, but I really wanted to see her agaIn before she died. She'd been sick for a long time, and it really is a release for her, and knowing that helps, but it still hurts like the dickens... I didn't even have time to write and ask this great group of A*s to pray for her... Barb in MO
Pat, I know you from the Armstrong list. I've gotten this same letter twice now, and I have no idea what it is. I'm not about to answer it, though. Do you know of others who've gotten it? Weird...! Barbara in MO
Thank you my wonderful cousins for your replies. It seems I as well as George was having a bad day. I didn't recognize the name. Heres hoping he got everything straighten out. Pat Tatom
Dear List - This sounds a lot like a scam that someone posing as an AOL rep used, suggesting I had won a PRIZE - but to get the prize the requirement was to fill in my address, e-mail address, password, and credit card number. Asking for my password was a clue that AOL was not involved.

I bet I know what happened. George got a Klez infected message. One variant of it takes a message at random and sends it out to all the addresses it can find and it spoofs the To: address. It probably used armstrong-l@rootsweb.com as the To: address. I would guess since George uses outlook express, he is probably infected with the virus now. Gene At 03:37 PM 1/13/03, John D. I have no idea of where my father was born, but think it was possibly in coastal Louisiana in the early 1930's. He had a twin sister, Charlotte, also brother Eugene (Gene) and his twin sister, Florene (two sets of fraternal twins). Sent to live in a presbyterian children's home in SC at young age. I've never heard of there being any further contact with their Armstrong family since that time.
