    1. [ARMSTRONG-L] Fw: science project help]
    2. Kathleen
    3. Hi, I am Shannon Syfrett a 9th grade student at Central Academy (Mississippi). I am working on a project for my 2003 Science Fair to be held February 25th, 2003 I am trying to see where, and how fast e-mail can travel in a period of six weeks. I am keeping track of how many e-mails I get back, and what cities, states, and countries they are coming from. I am hoping that you will be willing to help me with my project! There are only 2 simple steps that will help me to track this email: 1. Please send an e-mail to the following address: howfastorfar2003@aol.com <mailto:howfastorfar2003@aol.com> In the subject of the e-mail please include your city, state, and country. You do not need to include your name. Please respond only one time. 2. Please forward this e-mail to everyone on your mailing list. I will be keeping track of the number of responses, as well as the locations. Therefore, send them even to people in the same town. In my science project, I am trying to demonstrate how fast and how far information can travel on the Internet in a six week period. If you receive this e-mail after February 23,2003 please disregard it, since the project will be over. Thank you VERY much for your help! 3. Your anti-virus program will tell you when it detects a virus and ask you if you want it cleaned or quarantined. If you server finds the virus, it will remove the attachment and notify you. I am on Roadrunner and this is the first server that I've had that has removed a virus. I get a few viruses sent me almost every week. Also, be sure you know what an attachment is before you click on it! 3. Clemi! Now, you are talking my language! I am the pepper man! Eat fresh hot peppers every day! Just as well add my recipe for hot sauce to the list of recipes. I'm sorry to say that I never measure, so here goes: Fount's Hot Sauce: Get you some ripe orange Habaneras and some ripe red Tabasco peppers. About half and half. Put in a blender with some water. Blend down to a puree. Keep doing this until all the peppers are blended. Crush some garlic, just however much you like. Put pepper, garlic and water mixture in a pot and boil for about an hour, make sure there is enough water in the mixture so that it doesn't burn. After it has cooked down, strain through a colander to get the seeds and such out. Put back in pot and add about an equal amount of cider vinegar. Add some sticks of cinnamon and a bunch of sea salt, enough to say, "Wow!" "That's a lot of salt!" Boil mixture until it thickens to the consistency you prefer. Take out cinnamon sticks, bottle up and use sparingly! 3. Hi Clemi, thanks for that advice. I have Zone Alarm, but I wouldn't mind Mail washer. I am sick to death of porn mail. The type that changes its addresses so that you cannot reply. they also have you can unsubscribe, I have tried this and they completely ignore or maybe use the address I send to unsubscribe to resell. So this mail washer sounds good. My sysstem is slow, but I have a lot of photos in Kodak software on it so that could be why. I have done scans and virus checks, but haven't found anyhting. thinking of getting the Nortons 2003, mine is older, but i do the updates. Mine is avenge. I normally can keep the viruses at abay. The last one didn't get in as I knew, although it said Armstrong, I knew it wasn't from the list, so I took a peek clicking only once and recognise what I know to be a virus or worm, so deleted and no harm done. As you say though, a virus can get in without your knowledge and without the paperclip, so worthwhile doing all the checkes etc. Thanks Edie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Clemi" <clemi@chipshot.net> To: <ARMSTRONG-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, February 09, 2003 7:34 PM Subject: Re: [ARMSTRONG-L] Virus > Hi Edie ... > I imagine you did receive a virus. Although I've received many viruses (OK... viri), my machine has never been infected by one (not yet, at any rate.) Thanks a bunch! Barb

    2. Joe Armstrong
    3. Dear All, As far as I'm aware my PC is clean, maybe a glitch of some sort. John D. has ultra protection and I correspond daily with him, have done for many years. Is it some other Joe Armstrong? can't be two surely (#}:0)) I would like to get to the bottom of this. Have not sent attachments to anyone, I never do without prior permission. I did get a weird thing (minus paperclip symbol) from another List. It was from some person calling himself Old Carl. It was merely a photo of a flower in a pot. The next day I received a second one from him and deleted it at once, both were deleted from the deleted file to make sure. I ran a virus check at once. It came out clean. Joe Armstrong.

    3. I was wondering Fount if the crew would have been told about the foam dropping off the craft or would they have been kept in the dark about this.
