    2. So do I. I get a chuckle from some of the stories. I enjoyed the one about the four parts of the snake being buried so they wouldn't join back together. I posted my Armstrong's recently and it seems no one is searching for the same family. I too belong to many mailing lists on two different screen names, they are not all genealogy lists, but this one is the friendliest. I receive over 200 emails a day and read all but the junk mail. I even get a freecycle list which lets people give and receive items instead of throwing them away. I have given many things away, and received canning jars and other usable items for free. This list is by far the friendliest. Deloris

    3. " I skim the digest and DO find the non-genealogical banter very distracting and seldom of interest to me." I have a suggestion here that may benefit all of us. On the Genealogy4Dummies list we also have topics that aren't genealogy related. When we wish to post non-genealogy topics, they're marked "OT" meaning "off topic". Perhaps that might be doable here to? At least then if they are OT and some of us aren't interested, we can easily by-pass or delete the OT messages. Just a suggestion John! ;D Take care, Rob.

    2. I kind of thought that was what church was for. Like a hospital for the sick. How can someone give up their sin and change if they don't have the opportunity to hear the gospel. Ronda My favorite "our kinds" story is about a prominent Christian church in my hometown of Montana when they asked someone not to come back because she was a sinner. I always wanted to know how they knew.. they must have been in the same place at the same time somewhere. Patti

    3. Dear Listers, I was criticized about the head and shoulders for my remarks about liquid corn a while ago, and I wouldn't mind, except that I was wrong and that made it worse. So I replied to someone called John D and confessed: Dear John D, It is clear that you know far more than I about not only Armstrongs but also corn squeezings. I stand amazed in the presence of such talent. Certainly 8 or even 12 years would be an advantage. All I know is what my Kentucky father told me, and he was both a Federal Revenuer and a Storekeeper-gauger at government-sealed warehouses where the corn was aged agreeably. I prefer grits, myself. 1. Re: [ARMSTRONG] ARMSTRONG Digest, Vol 1, Issue 89
    2. Thanks to those of you who took time to send kind words and fill me in on this list. I'm on several other lists and they are strictly genealogy, so I was surprised by this one. It's nice you have such camaraderie. I had noticed the different spellings of Marilynn, Marilyn, Marylin (mine). I was named after a grandmother Mary and mother just added on the lin. My greatgrandmother was Clarissa Armstrong Bedunah born 16 Jun 1959 in Stueben Co. NY and died 30 Jan 1927 in Otsego, Allegan Co MI of a cerebral hemorage. She married Moses Bedunah 6 Jun 1883 in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Co. MI. They had 7 children, my grandmother, Julia Ann, being one of them. I have some pictures of Clarissa and also of her gravestone if anyone is interested in them. Her parents were James William Armstrong b 19 Apr 1917 in Yates Co NY and Teressa Louise Decker b 2 Aug 1823 in NY. James' parents were Isaac Armstrong b 1778 in NY and Roxalana Hovey b 7 Sept 1788 in Norwich VT. That's as far back as I go. If anyone is connected with any of these people, I'd be glad to hear from you. Just a couple months ago, I came into contact with three Armstrong relatives, so I've amassed quite a bit of information but haven't had time to really delve into it and all it means. Thanks for reading. Marylin

    1. [ARMSTRONG] North Carolina Armstrongs
    2. cathy fleming
    3. Hi! I am looking for Thomas Armstrong born about 1794 in North Carolina. His wife's name was Elizabeth who was also born about 1797 in North Carolina. They went from North Carolina to Tennessee (between 1816 and 1819) to Lincoln County,Missouri to Texas (between 1852 and 1856). He was a minister for a long time before his death in 1869/1870 in Williamson County, TX. His wife died before 1869 ( not sure where). I think that I found a marriage record that might be them in Tyrell County, NC in 1812 (Thomas Armstrong m. Elizabeth Jones). Their first child was Permelia born about 1814 in North Carolina. They had at least 8 children. I have his will and probate records which name all his children and most of his grandchildren. I am related to the second oldest boy Thomas, JR born about 1829 in Lincoln County, MO. He first married Sarah E. Kimball in 1850 and secondly Frenetta Howdeshell in 1854. Thomas and Frenetta with child Plooma moved to Texas between 1852 and 1856. They were in the 1860 Hill County, TX Census near Hillsboro. Would love any kind of help. Catherine Fleming

    3. My favorite "our kinds" story is about a prominent Christian church in my hometown of Montana when they asked someone not to come back because she was a sinner. I always wanted to know how they knew.. they must have been in the same place at the same time somewhere. 3. I think I feel about potatoes as you feel about grits. I never met one I didn't like and they can be cooked or not. Not the sweet potato types but the whites, reds, blues, yellows etc. Must have some Irish in there somewhere. Patti ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thomas S. 3. Actually Tom, I don't know all that much about the Armstrong's...regretably.. and less about my own... but I can tell you that the more I learn, the more I realize the less I know.. :-) . Right about now I'd give a pretty penny to be able to ask my Grandfather to clarify a point or two ..!!! (wouldn't we all) ... However, I have made the acquaintace of a couple of Armstrong researchers, who also have the FSA (Friend of Scottish Antiquities) titles to back up their advice on Things historically Armstrong... and they have given me sound advice and guidance in the last few years. My education with Corn Squeezin's comes from a certain amount of experience... not the brewing, but the consumption end of it.. I've sampled the best... and the worst in just about every known port in the Pacific and all peripheral waters.. in my Naval Career. However, I do have the grand champion purple ribbon from the Alaska State fair one year for my Rhubarb wine... :-) and I'm a part owner in a micro brewery... But I have never made any "hard" stuff... I am collaborating with another reprobate ........ er........ gent on the possibility of converting my Raspberry wine into brandy.... or at least trying to.. Should you see a mushroom cloud to the NorWest, you can assume the experiment didnt work.. Sincerely, John D A little SoWest of North Thomas S.
