My McFarland-McFarlens are originally from Orange and Granville Co. N. C., came to TN ca 1830-1840, to Carrol, Gibson and Madison Cos. Charlie's gr grandmother was Tennesse Bivens, daughter of Wylie Bivens, who married John J. McFarland in Gibson Co. TN ca 1862. In 1870 they were in Fulton Co. KY and in 1880, John J. has died and Tennessee L. McFarland is living along with sons John W., William Thomas, and Wylie, dau Sarah Narcissa, in New Maddrid, MO. After this time, before 1900, Tennessee had married a Johnson. Sarah (Sally) Narcissa married N. C. Pratt in MS Co, in 1888. John W. McFarlen, Wylie and William Thomas, along wtih Tennessee were all in the area. Wylie married after 1890 but seems to have died before the 1900 census. John W. and his wife had two daughters, no sons. It might be that if I knew more about your McFarlands, they could connect somewhere down the line. My husband was in the National Guard in Blytheville for many years and there were two McFarland boys that were also in the Guard. They always called each other cuz but had absolutely no knowledge that they were related. Joyce Shelton McFarland
