    1. [ARMISSIS] Township Map
    2. Cheryl
    3. The Mississippi County site has a pre-1998 Township map at the following URL: http://www.rootsweb.com/~armissi2/township.htm If you click on the image of the map, it will take you to a larger image where some of the towns are mapped out on it. There are undoubtedly some variations in township names/boundaries? when compared with each census year but the map is a great lead. I'd start with what the map shows and then move to the surrounding townships if who you are looking for isn't found in that particular township. The map shows Keiser to be in Monroe Township. 2. The Miss. Co. Library in Osceola has a section of books pertaining to the "old" days of the county. In Feb. I was there and I recall looking through one that had pictures of old homes, etc. in that area. I, too, have been researching that area, particularly Pecan Point. There's also a historical society in town, only open on Tues. afternoon I believe. Anyway, I can't recall the name of the book offhand, but I know there's a list of books you can get off the Mississippi County web site. My ancestors assigned their land over to Jacob McGavock and John Boss in 1836. I have a copy of the BLM records. Let me know if I can help.

    2. Keiser, Arkansas is not in Monroe Township. Monroe Township would be Osceola. I'm not sure of Keiser township. Did you check Ancestry.com for a census index? That would tell you what township to check.

    3. how about if you don't have a death date? I am curious how much trouble is it to get a death certificate of an ancestor? I mean, do you have to show you are related or anything? 3. I happen to have a Mississippi County map in front of me. I am not expert by any means but will see if I can help you out. Keiser is W.-S.W of Osecola. From Blythesville, take 55 hwy. south to 140. West on 140 to 181. South on181 to Kieser. Might I suggest you go to www.mapquest.com and click on directions. enter the name of the town you are in and the name of Kieser as destination and the site will give you a map and written directions. Hope this helps...Laura B ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, July 22, 2001 8:41 PM Subject: [ARMISSIS] Just need answers to couple of search questions > > Hi, First of all, does anyone know where in the 1920 Ms. Co. census records, is the town of Keiser in the Monroe Township? I have looked through on about every 10 #'s and can't find that section.I must have overlooked it. I really don't want to have to look through the whole thing. My second question-- Where would I find the 1917-18 WWI Registration for Ar, in particular for Ms. Co? Would appreciate any help at all on this. 1. [ARMISSIS] list and site up for adoption
    2. Cheryl Cummings
    3. Hi Researchers, I am going to be putting the ARMISSIS-L mailing list, the Mississippi County, AR USGenWeb site, Archive site and related message boards up for adoption. Due to demands life in general makes, I just can't give the attention to the site(s)/list that I'd like to and that they deserve and that you researchers deserve. So I'm going to pass the opportunity on to someone else. Is anyone on the list interested in taking over ?? Could be just the list, just the site(s) or all. Could even be a team for the site(s). Please email me personally if you are interested. Sincerely, Cheryl Cummings Listowner and County Coordinator/Archivist Mississippi County, AR [email protected]

    1. Re: [ARMISSIS] Bishops of Blytheville
    2. Have you read the 1870 and 1880 census where some of your Bishops are shown? When I read it years ago I made some notes about the Bishops because one of the Bishop girls of Dunklin County, Mo., married one of my grandfather's brothers - a Daugherty. In 1870 they are shown on pages 525 and 538. In 1880 they are in Big Lake Twp., HH#110, 136 and 137. If you will go to the Mississippi County website you can read the census there - if you haven't already read it.. Good luck!! Dema Daugherty Magers
